Do you have what it takes to lead projects for an innovative, forward thinking, highly motivated engineering design team?The Computing Products Department (CPD) has an opening for a Principal Technical Project Manager/Project Engineer. This department is responsible for the development and sustainment of state of the art avionics products including integrated processing cabinets, displays, video processing modules, and control panels used in military fighter, fixed wing, and rotary wing aircraft platforms.We are looking for a strong leader with an action oriented mindset, who is capable of evaluating individual and project performance while anticipating changes. This role will involve a high level of collaboration in order to build and enhance development teams while operating with integrity.CPD is responsible for designing products for both commercial and military avionics. The successful candidate will lead and manage projects to meet cost, schedule and technical performance commitments, working closely with peer engineers, program management, manufacturing, and customers. They are the single point of contact for engineering responsible for the technical leadership and project management of design & development activities, within the guidelines set by the product line, program manager, and our customers. Experience related to the design and development of printed circuit designs and custom ruggedized chassis is desired; engineering design experience and earned value (EV) management experience is strongly desired. This person will also lead customer business related activities including bids, proposals, and customer technical presentations.This is an onsite role. This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This position may be eligible for relocation.Primary responsibilities:
Serves as the engineering project leader for programs developing Avionics products, including oversight of hardware, software, and firmware scope to ensure program commitments are metServes as engineering project leader, providing project management and technical direction during all program phases including; pursuit, bidding, planning, execution, and sustainmentEnsures consistency with Collins Aerospace technical consistent engineering processesEnsures compliance with program and product requirements as reflected in design plansLeads wide range of entry-level to highly experienced engineersDemonstrates technical expertise in processing platforms and the associated technologiesMaintains awareness of key technologies and the company's competitive positionSupports development and transition of products into a manufacturing environmentSupports employment of cost reduction strategies to maximize DTC+ impacts on productsQualifications/Experience Needed:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experienceU.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required. https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62Successful leadership experience in developing ruggedized avionics productsExperience managing technical projects including schedule and earned value management, risk management, customer interaction, and briefing executive leadershipExperience with Avionics regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, MIL-STD, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/CProven record of meeting objectives and commitmentsPossess a collaborative way of workingDemonstrated success in balancing system performance and affordabilityStrong communicator, able to interface with the spectrum of individual contributor to executive leadershipPreferred Qualifications:
