Job Summary:
The Principal Systems Engineer will be an integral member of our Engineering System Production Group team, taking a lead role in the design, analysis, and maintenance of our comprehensive system infrastructure. The role will require building a SPG presence in the APAC region by demonstrating the core values of what it means to be Engineering’s System Production. A successful candidate will possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with various systems and technologies, and a passion for ensuring the optimal performance and resilience of network and server systems. The candidate lead by example and work with others to enhance their skills.
Principal Systems Engineer Responsibility’s:
Developing an understanding of our customers’ challenges and requirements.
Support learning and information distribution to support group.
Conduct in-depth system requirements analysis to understand business needs and technical requirements.
Take the lead in building and configuring server systems from the ground up.
Handle pre-installation software and hardware staging and configuration.
Supporting the definition and implementation of the requirement management process
Formulating, reviewing, and analyzing requirements from a variety of inputs.
Engage in beta testing for new or modified code, providing valuable feedback for improvement.
Offer high-level factory support to our global deployment teams, first-level site administrators, and second-level factory support personnel.
Develop technical documentation such as bulletins, whitepapers, diagrams, installation guides, etc.
Work with Subject Matter Experts to ensure requirements are cascaded to key compliance documentation.
Engage in ISO processes, technical writing, and adopt troubleshooting methodologies.
Supporting the wider engineering team to ensure validation and verifying that customer requirements are satisfied through planned qualification and test activities.
Implement, manage, and troubleshoot backup, antivirus, data replication, and server operating systems.
Liaising with our customers and stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to security best practices and effective patch management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Solid knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite.
Capable of conducting independent research.
Works well on a team.
Pays close attention to detail.
Experience with imaging software.
Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality.
Exhibits strong organizational skills.
Proficient in scripting tools including Win32, SQL, PowerShell, and Ansible.
Exhibits strong knowledge with server operating systems, particularly Windows (2012 to 2022) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Strong understanding of databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, SQL Express, Elasticsearch, Mongo, and Redis.
Possesses solid writing skills.
Hands-on experience with security software, backup technologies, and data replication solutions.
Communicates clearly and effectively.
Capable to understand and interpret systems hardware and software terminology.
Demonstrates ability to translate technical verbiage into simple terms for explanatory purposes.
Exhibits solid customer service and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
Education & Experience:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
