About The Role
GoodRx is looking for a Principal Backend Software Engineer to join our Retention team. This team is dedicated to building systems and features that support the engagement and retention of our customers across web and mobile apps. This is a hands-on role that will require you to take charge in designing, implementing, and deploying new or enhanced services and APIs to augment our product offerings. We value candidates with deep technical knowledge and a strong aptitude for collaboration, capable of uplifting and working effectively with team members to meet both team and company objectives. The ideal candidate will be proficient at converting ideas into production-ready solutions quickly, flourish in a fast-paced and cooperative workplace, and stay updated with the latest technological trends.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership and Expertise: Serve as a technical leader within the Retention organization. Provide expert guidance on complex engineering problems and projects. Mentor junior engineers and lead by example in terms of technical skill and professionalism.Innovation and Problem Solving: Drive innovation by identifying and solving complex, technical challenges. Stay abreast of the latest technologies and trends in the field and apply them to improve products or processes.Ensure Quality: Maintain high-quality engineering standards. Review and approve pull requests, api specifications, and technical documents.Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as product management and design/UX, to ensure engineering solutions meet customer needs and business objectives.Communication: Clearly communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including written documentation.Delivery: Experience breaking down complex technical designs into clear, actionable tasks and executable deliverable plans.
Skills and Qualifications:
10+ years of software development experienceDemonstrated technical leadership in building highly available and scalable distributed systemsSignificant experience designing, building, deploying and maintaining cloud-based web services and microservices (AWS experience preferred)Experience with Kubernetes and modern observability practicesExpertise in one or more programming languages (Go preferred)Proficient in Linux with a solid understanding of operating systemsDetail-oriented, self-motivated and interested in mentorship and well being of other team membersAbility to convey complex technical information to a variety of levels within the organizationPassionate about code quality, continuous delivery, and automated testing

Experience with React, TypeScript, and GraphQLExperience developing Kafka-based data pipelines
