Job Summary
Release managers are the leaders and facilitators of the release management process. They are responsible for defining the release strategy, scope, schedule, and quality criteria. They also coordinate the release activities across different teams, such as development, testing, operations, and business. Release managers communicate the release status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and ensure compliance with policies and standards. Release managers need to have strong project management, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. They also need to have a good understanding of the software development lifecycle, the release tools and technologies, and the business objectives and customer needs. They should be able to define and publish the release metrics, have strong stakeholder management skills, understand and own RCA process and have an understanding of DevOps
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Provides expert research and assistance to leadership in the development and design of new projects.
Uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes. Recommends new process and tools to achieve advanced project management.
Manages project status and information in the form of formal briefings, project update meetings and written, electronic and graphic reports.
Develops, maintains and manages detailed project plans, action item registers and major milestone timelines for all assigned projects. Creates and maintains process workflow documents to support business needs.
Manages all assigned projects to completion ensuring on-time delivery, meeting of budgetary demands and maintenance of overall project ownership.
Acts as a single point of contact for project status. Maintains communication with stakeholders.
Facilitates and leads project meetings.
Addresses problems through risk management and contingency planning and presents solutions and/or options to executive management. Ensures effective implementation of solutions/changes.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Overview
Forward Plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio
Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
Weekly Release Reporting
Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.
Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
Participate in release scope and/or roadblocks meetings
Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
