The NASA Sky Range program is seeking an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pilot for developmental test and operational flights for the RQ-4 Range Hawk, located in Edwards Airforce Base, CA.
Job Responsibilities:
Remotely pilots air vehicle, determines compliance with specification and operational suitability during engineering test, flight test, and demonstration support through specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers. Plans and executes UAV operations for airborne data collection in support of TRMC & NASA test events. Defines plans, organizes and executes complex flight programs and flight test events in accordance with military, FAA and ICAO procedures. Conducts briefings and debriefings, and coordinates with maintenance personnel to analyze and correct vehicle discrepancies. Candidate may conduct demonstration flights with customers, government officials or other personnel to exhibit vehicle performance, flying qualities and system capabilities. Position based at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards, AFB, CA requiring occasional travel for several weeks to support tests. Selected candidate must successfully complete RQ-4 UAV training & qualification program, receive NASA certification, and maintain FAA IFR currency in a manned aircraft as a basis for continued employment.
This requisition may be filled at the higher grade based on requirements listed below.
Basic Qualifications:
- Level 3: Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related experience, or 3 years with a Master's, or 0 with a PhD
- Level 4: Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of related experience, or 7 years with a Master's, or 4 with a PhD
- Experience as a flight operations crew member
- FAA commercial instrument rated pilot
- Current FAA Class I or II Medical Exam
- Minimum of 500 hours of flight experience as Pilot in Command and able to maintain instrument currency in manned aircraft
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs as applicable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military aircrew experience
- Large UAV pilot or operator
- Current/qualified in RQ-4 Global Hawk or MQ-4C Triton
- FAA CFI/CFII or Military Aviation Instructor/Evaluator
- TPS Graduate or flight test experience
Salary Range: $118,000 - $177,000
Salary Range 2: $146,300 - $219,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
