The Block Storage team owns and operates mission-critical Block Storage Service infrastructure and software for the Oracle Cloud. Serving at a scale of EB of data, we operate a world-class Block Storage where uptime and performance are critical and impact is far-reaching.
This individual will be a senior member of the Block Storage team in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Primarily focused on delivering the implementation, testing and operational automation for the Block Storage management plane. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a wide range of skills and experience. This individual should be proficient at operating in a SaaS, Cloud or Hybrid cloud environment. This individual will also be autonomous and be expected to contribute to a wide range of high-impact projects across the organization. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader.
Responsibilities
Major Duties:
Designs, develops and maintains infrastructure and backend applications in our dev, test and production environments
Hands on software development at scale – Develop code that scales to billions of queries per second
Perform troubleshooting and coordinate problem resolution activities with engineering and support teams
Establish and maintain productive relationships with peer organizations
Experience with Root cause analysis, monitoring and alarming in all environments
Help automate and streamline operations and processes for Tier 0 infrastructure service
Deep knowledge of Linux internals and performance, and host based networking
Manage and build CI and CD tools/pipelines and collaborate within larger developer tools organization
Build and maintain tools for deployments, security patching and vulnerability management, and change safety
Experience with configuring, managing, and extending infrastructure solutions for growing footprint as part of the large scale environment
Deep understanding of the service, service KPIs and management of the Grafana dashboards
Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on operational excellence
Work closely with both internal and external software development resources as well as IT/network operations and the users of our solutions
Strong communication skills, excellent troubleshooting skills with sense of ownership and driving to completion
Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to deliver the items listed in the major duties' section implementing cloud solutions
6+ years of operations engineering experience in SaaS Cloud or Hybrid Cloud Environments
6+ years managing large scale, highly distributed, services infrastructures
6+ years of experience in design, implement and maintain large scale distributed systems.
Experience with CI/CD tools Jenkins, Teamcity, Bitbucket, Git
Experience with cloud orchestration tools, such as Terraform
Experience with scripting languages like Python and Bash
Familiarity with core network protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, TCP)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and within groups
Should be a flexible, resourceful, team player that is able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
Creative thinking, troubleshooting and critical analysis are essential
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent in work experience and self-study.
Advanced degree is a plus

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
