Job Description
The Publications and Scientific Communications team, a part of Medical Writing and Healthcare Communications at Evidera, prepares medical publications, abstracts, posters, presentations, and other scientific communications. Our dynamic, highly collaborative team focuses on providing quality writing to internal collaborators and external pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced publications writer to join the Publications and Scientific Communications team as a Principal Medical Writer. The Principal Medical Writer will be responsible for managing and producing high-quality publications and scientific communications; mentoring and providing senior review for other members of the team; and providing high-level advice to collaborators within Evidera and to external pharmaceutical and biotech clients. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in writing publications, abstracts, and posters; excellent written English and analytical skills; and be able to efficiently work on multiple concurrent projects. We are looking for a team player who is proactive, enjoys mentoring other writers, and is comfortable working in a highly collaborative CRO environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Independently write, edit, and manage publications and other scientific communications (manuscripts, posters, abstracts, oral presentation slide decks, and review articles), on time and within budgetTrain, mentor, and provide senior review for other members of the Publications and Scientific Communications teamLead or provide senior-level input on initiatives for process improvementAppropriately resolve or escalate project management issues, such as out-of-scope activitiesEnsure compliance with quality processes and requirementsRepresent the team as a prime contact on projects
Education, Professional Skills, & Experience:
Extensive relevant experience as a writer of peer-reviewed medical publications (comparable to 8+ years); experience working in a CRO environment preferredBachelor's degree or higher in a scientific discipline; advanced degree preferredExcellent scientific writing, project management, and computer skillsAbility to edit and providing meaningful feedback and comments on other writers' workIn-depth knowledge of relevant specialty areas of medicineExperience mentoring or training other writers preferredAdditional qualifications (AMWA, EMWA, or RAC training; CMPP certification) advantageousPublication planning experience advantageous
