About Principal Engineer, Security Research

  Job Description

We create world-changing technology that improves the life of every person on the planet. Intel put the silicon in Silicon Valley. Today we are applying our reach, scale, and resources to deliver on bold goals. And we're not doing it alone: we work with our customers and galvanize the industry for positive impact.

Our team of accomplished researchers and architects shape the global PC ecosystem everyday - setting the standards, norms, and infrastructure for the entire PC industry. We start with research: how people use technology, how it can improve people's lives, and what are the most compelling experiences. Next, we translate those experiences into a set of technical requirements and capabilities: IPs, SoCs, Software, Processors, Packaging and Platform. Finally, we have the privilege of leading teams from across Intel to bring these technologies to market with our advanced factories, our partners and customers from across the world selling hundreds of millions of units every year.

If you love to innovate, influence the direction of the PC industry, and help make the PC an indispensable tool for work, education, and creation - then this is the team for you. You will work alongside and learn from industry experts including Intel Fellows and Principal Engineers. The work is challenging. No two days will be the same. Architecting a solution to a real user problem and then seeing in their hands is an amazingly rewarding experience.

Client Platform Engineering (CPE) is part of Client Computing Group (CCG). CPE is responsible for platform hardware, software, system integration/validation/power and performance, OSV/ISV co-engineering, and the customer co-engineering and enabling necessary to deliver leadership PC experiences. CPE provides the engineering infrastructure, services, security and solutions behind Intel's Platform SW Factory and many Intel-wide Gladius deliverables.

The CPE Team is looking for a Security Researcher who Initiates the design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects to fuel growth in secure computing, cryptographic algorithms, communication, memory, networking, intellectual property, and new business opportunities. Applies scientific research principles and concepts to potential inventions and products to define and architect secure design, development, and operation of Intel's hardware and software products and services. Ensures products conform to standards and specifications. Evaluates threat assessments, security components design, and conducts vulnerability assessments. Identifies new vulnerabilities and gaps in existing security test automation and develops tools and processes to close the gap. Works with other security researchers to develop evolving ethical hacking skills and networking product knowledge. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art security principles, theories, and attacks and contributes to literature and conferences participating in intellectual property development. Develops security related project plans and cost estimates, assesses projects risks, and responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Research technological trends, enables partnerships and collaboration among industry, academia, standards bodies, product, and other technical groups to address important technology and customer issues, and finds innovative solutions to difficult problems for midterm or long-term time frames. Influences external research, disseminates results, and raises the profile of conducted research through scientific publications, patents, talks, and Intel internal or external outreach efforts. Performs research to define boundaries and create proof of concept or prototype new ideas including test chips and competitive analysis versus industry trends. Works with engineering design teams to determine product requirements and the feasibility of new technology adoption and robustness of secure product design. Recommends features and influences future Intel product roadmap. As a principal engineer, recognized as a domain expert who influences and drives technical direction across Intel and industry. Develops and mentors' other technical leaders, grows the community, acts as a change agent, and role models Intel values. Aligns organizational goals with technical vision, formulates technical strategy to deliver leadership solutions, and demonstrates a track record of relentless execution in bringing products and technologies to market.
