  Description

  Are you passionate about the intersection of cloud computing, satellite communication, and pushing edge computing across the oceans and throughout the Sea Service domain? Do you have a passion for assisting the Department of the Navy (DON) in applying cutting edge technologies to its mission? Do you understand the DON mission and the ability to communicate these concepts at the most senior levels in the DoD? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Strategic Business Development Lead to focus on the Navy and Marine Corps customer. At AWS, customer obsession is in our DNA. The successful candidate will become a trusted adviser to our customers and will work with AWS sales, business development, and solution architects to provide needed cloud capability to US Navy and Marine Corps forces. This will also include the opportunity to drive new requirements and capabilities into AWS’s vast portfolio of services.

  This business development effort closes an important gap at federal agencies today by advising senior agency leaders on business and technical plans that move away from on-premises, hybrid, and private cloud strategies. Supported by a team of AWS Solutions Architects, service teams and senior engineers, you will work with Federal Executives to develop strategies that improve the Department of the Navy capabilities, accelerate the change process and promote cloud-based solutions for the Department of the Navy.

  This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Secret security clearance.

  Key job responsibilities

  Serve as a key advisor and member of the leadership team for the Director, Navy Sales, to drive overall AWS market and DON service enablement strategy.

  Work closely with DON CIO, DON PEOs and Commands, DOD service secretaries, and other DOD senior leaders on internal and external IT strategies.

  Work closely with the AWS Navy / Marine Corps sales team to engage customers and shape desired future Government outcomes.

  Define and execute a strategic market development plan that identifies cross organizational opportunities in partnership with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales teams, service teams, marketing, partner team, legal, support, etc.).

  Define and size opportunities across the DON customer space, identify and engage key customers, and identify and engage key industry partners including Independent Software vendors (ISV’s) and system integrators (SIs).

  Support business development pipeline by engaging with key prospects and industry partners.

  Understand the technical requirements of our customers and work closely with the internal development teams to guide the direction of our product offerings DOD and DON mission requirements.

  Present business reviews to the AWS senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to expanding our reach in the industry.

  Handle a high volume of engagements and interactions in the fast pace of the cloud computing market.

  Basic Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree

  10+ years of broad National Security and/or Department of Defense domain knowledge (USN / USMC experience preferred) including direct customer (executive level) interface, customer systems, applications and technology. Strong technical skills with the ability to dive deep on relevant technologies key to the industry.

  Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Secret or above

  5+ Experience with software development practices and data center / infrastructure / networking / database systems / core distributed computing concepts / fundamentals of cloud computing and virtualization / storage systems / Analytics / emerging paradigms like IoT, Machine Learning, etc.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Knowledge of big data businesses and technical concepts

  10+ years of professional or military experience

  Business development or consulting background, experience working with National Defense and DoD industry customers (USN / USMC experience preferred) at the CxO/VP level.
