About Netskope
Today, there's more data and users outside the enterprise than inside, causing the network perimeter as we know it to dissolve. We realized a new perimeter was needed, one that is built in the cloud and follows and protects data wherever it goes, so we started Netskope to redefine Cloud, Network and Data Security.
Since 2012, we have built the market-leading cloud security company and an award-winning culture powered by hundreds of employees spread across offices in Santa Clara, St. Louis, Bangalore, London, Melbourne, and Tokyo. Our core values are openness, honesty, and transparency, and we purposely developed our open desk layouts and large meeting spaces to support and promote partnerships, collaboration, and teamwork. From catered lunches and office celebrations to employee recognition events (pre and hopefully post-Covid) and social professional groups such as the Awesome Women of Netskope (AWON), we strive to keep work fun, supportive and interactive. About the role
Please note, this team is hiring across all levels and candidates are individually assessed and appropriately leveled based upon their skills and experience.
The Data ProductionEngineering (DPE) team is an SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team responsible for the overall ownership of 3rd party data services at Netskope, including relational databases, noSQL datastores, data caching and streaming services and more. The team designs (often in collaboration with other Netskope teams), implements, automates, maintains, monitors, and manages all of the aforementioned services and consists of Data Systems Architects, Data Systems Engineers, and Software Engineers.
What's in it for you
As Principal Data Services Architect on the DPE team you will contribute strategic and lifecycle initiatives to the DPE overall roadmap, as well as develop and drive a roadmap to transition to DBaaS offerings. Central to this role is aligning our data infrastructure with cutting-edge, scalable, and cloud-native paradigms. You will act as a technical leader within DPE, mentoring less senior team members, and ensuring our platforms and services are supportable. Beyond technical expertise, this role serves as the representative of the DPE group within the broader business context, bridging technical initiatives with overarching business goals.
What you will be doing
Coordinating with and working across customer engineering teams to develop and manage a roadmap to implement DBaaS platforms for existing and future use-cases. Assessing providers and existing technologies to find and ensure solutions align with requirements and use-cases. Developing criteria for evaluating the scalability, efficiency, and reliability of potential DBaaS solutions. Overseeing the integration of DBaaS solutions with existing infrastructure while ensuring seamless data flow and minimizing disruptions. Engaging closely with Engineering teams to ensure DBaaS strategies align with the needs and strategies of services. Monitoring DBaaS performance, and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and optimize cost. Ensuring DBaaS setups adhere to industry standards and are fortified against potential security threats. Developing training and documentation to enable other members of the team to manage and service any developed DBaaS platform. Working with DPE leadership, you will define lifecycle and strategic initiatives and help to oversee them. Representing DPE technically and bridging the gap between technical and business goals. Collaborating with security teams to continuously enhance the defensive posture of our data services.
Required skills and experience
A minimum of 10+ years in data roles, with a solid track record working with cloud-native DBaaS solutions. A deep understanding of various database systems - caching, NoSQL, document stores, RDBMS. Familiarity with Kubernetes is desired. Strong leadership and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and bridge the gap between technology and business.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required. A Master's degree or higher is strongly preferred..
