About Principal Data Platform/DevOps Engineer

  Position Responsibilities

  As a Principal Engineer I, you will:Develop general infrastructure technology in a public/private cloudDesign, configure, optimize, manage, monitor, document and support platform services and components, as well as supporting enterprise data ingestionBe responsible for technical aspects of a project at the team levelLead design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organizationSpearhead new feature use (innovate within existing tooling)Spearhead new software acquisition and use (innovate with new tooling)Leverage automation to remove redundant error prone tasks to improve the quality of the solutionWork with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams and establish a high trust partnership with internal business partners, and other IT groups to support company initiativesProvide advanced system administration, operational support, and problem resolution for a large complex cloud computing environment in and develop scripts to automate the deployment of resource stacks and associated configurationsExtend standard systems management processes into the cloud including change, incident, and problem managementDevelop and maintain a library of deployable, tested, and documented automation design scripts, processes, and proceduresEnable DevOps development activities and complex development tasks that will involve working with a wide variety of tools and container management systemsCoordinate and bring application experts and other infrastructure teams together for finding optimal solutions to issues related to capacity, security, performanceImplement and maintain CI/CD solutions and create code deployment models to support self-service automationQualifications

  A technical background and knowledge of big data foundational concepts such as relational database, data warehouse, and data lakes is required to help build and maintain robust, scalable data and machine learning platformsBe well versed on general infrastructure technology and understand public and private cloud concepts such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)Experience configuring and managing technologies used in big data and machine learning such as Snowflake, Spark, virtual networking in cloud environmentsExperience with container orchestration tools such as Docker and KubernetesExperience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as TerraformExtensive experience and strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure componentsPreferred technologies include Azure, event streaming, data transformation, data warehouse, Azure Data Factory, and Azure data lake and servicesStrong working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS/DHCP/Firewalls/Sub-netting, etc.) Azure preferredAutomation experience. Strong coding and scripting skills (shell, NodeJS, Python etc.)Experience in backend programming languages like PL/SQL, T-SQL, NZ SQL etc.Awareness of DB Optimization techniques pertinent to cloud data warehouses. Snowflake preferredUnderstanding of data ingress and egress patterns between cloud components. Big data Snowflake and different cloud service providers preferredProficiency in Spark and Snowflake platform Architecture, function/feature is a plus.Experience architecting and designing current systemsAdvanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and toolsAdvanced understanding of monitoring concepts and toolingExperience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as codeStrong problem-solving abilityAbility to excel in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)Experience and good understanding of big data eco systems like Hadoop, Spark, and SnowflakeExperience6+ years of professional software development and/or infrastructure experience4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks3+ years of experience with architecture and design3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud serviceEducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceAnnual Salary

  $72,000.00 - $236,500.00

  The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
