Job Description
The Merrill Lynch Settlements Operations Analyst plays an integral role in the support of hedge fund / professional trading group clients and our institutional trade desks. The position includes providing operational support to the Business Unit and Merrill Lynch Entity clients directly on reporting and trade research. Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: Inventory management, fail research on securities lending between the stock loan desk and MLI PB clients, conducting research in regards to reclaims, erroneous trade bookings and treasury settlements.
Other responsibilities include internal reconciliation and fail research of all Merrill Lynch Entity transactions, following up with the Stock loan desk and contra brokers directly to resolve aged fails, prioritizing and mitigating risk on treasury settlements, and performing detailed root cause analysis. The role includes interaction with the Front Office Business Unit and other internal support departments such as the stock loan desk, Corporate Actions and counterparts in EMEA, APAC and AMRS regions.
The position also includes; continous improvement opportunities which involves using metrics analytics and compiling data in a way which tells a story with the aim of influencing errant client or counterparty behavior.
Required Skills:
Ability to multi-task and operate under high pressure situations.
Strong PC and Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Interpersonal skills must be very strong and team player.
Must have a keen ability to efficiently manage time and priorities.
Must be able to bring proactive and innovative business processing solutions to completion within deadlines and with minimal risk to the organization
Ability to analyze data and challenge the status quo.
