  We have a position available for a full-time primaryCare Physicianreporting to our Chief Medical Officer for our clinic in WestDes Moines, Iowa. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. This opening has a$10,000 sign-on bonus paidout in two increments.

  Job Summary:

  Provide medical care for patients of all ages who seek care at UCS Healthcare; including patients in more than one program or location including medication assisted treatment. Expected to operate in alignment with UCS Healthcare core values and act as a team player, providing patient centered services and striving to provide the highest level of care. Follow all Federal, State of Iowa, and agency policies and laws, including those pertaining to confidentiality, including HIPPA/42CFR part 2 and CARF requirements.

  Essential Functions:

  Patient Care (50%)

  Diagnose patient conditions using history, physical examination and indicated tests, and prescribe treatment as necessary to address their health concerns.Address preventative care, including tests and vaccinations appropriate for a patient's age, history, and other pertinent variables.Refer patients to other specialists or practitioners when necessary.Coordinate services internally with physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, counselors, and therapists and utilize support staff as indicated.Provide and coordinate emergency care to patients and staff as needed and make necessary referrals.Perform initial patient screenings and patient history and physical examinations, including MAT physical exams.Diagnose and treat acute infections, injuries, and illnesses.Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits.Understanding the changes in health promotion throughout the aging process.Performing diagnostic tests and screening evaluations.Emphasizing preventative care and disease management.Work with a diverse population of patients compassionately.Analyze test data and determine the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options.Serve as the resource patients need for ongoing care information, counseling and provide guidance for any patients with critical conditions.Order Medication as appropriate.Deliver quality care while maintaining confidentiality.Documentation (40%)

  Collect, record, and maintain patient information (including the medical history, examination, testing results and treatment plans) in a complete and timely manner with legible and complete documentation. Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.Utilize EHR for documentation and E-prescribing as appropriate.Documents in a timely, accurate and concise manner.Completes and signs all notes in a timely manner.Oversees nursing staff documentation and co-sign if needed.Training and Education (10%)

  Attend staffing, QA and other designated meetings.Maintain all licensures, registrations and permits as required and participate in continuing medical education activities as required and in order to maintain and increase professional standards.Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.Participate in agency trainings both as a learner and in ongoing educational health presentations to the staff.Direct and coordinate activities of nurses and other medical staff and provide. technical and educational assistance in understanding a patient's medical problems.Provide consultation to clinic staff for improvement in their work performance, which enhances overall quality service delivery.Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.Demonstrates commitment to own professional growth and competence.Minimum Education and Experience:

  Current license as an MD or DO in the state of Iowa.DEA CSA certificate.Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  Demonstrates effective communication strategies.Strong oral, written and computer skills.Must be knowledgeable in diagnosing, treating, and evaluating illness and injury, as well as providing preventative or wellness care.Must excel in a team environment and must adhere to agency policies and procedures.Preferred Education and Experience:

  Two years' experience working with addiction medicine.Physical Requirements:

  Prolonged sitting and standing, prolonged computer use.Ability to lift up to 30lbs.A valid driver's license is required (an Iowa driver's license is required within 30 days of hire) and liability insurance or an equivalent means of personal transportation and coverage as travel within the state of Iowa may be necessary.Work Schedule:

  32 hours or 40 hours a week as agreed on by the Chief Medical Officer.
