GENERAL PURPOSE: Assist operators in setting up and running the Sanki UV Letterpress, filling in as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Sets up and operates the printing press to produce Pixies, Stik-Stakes, and other products as needed (follows all quick change overs plans, SMED).
Assists in maintaining proper quality of product including color, quantity, print defects, ink adhesion, and bar-codes.
Performs preventative and other necessary maintenance on equipment and tooling.
Completes all necessary paperwork including timesheets, job tickets, etc.
Assists in instructing and overseeing Press-Helpers and Press Assistants.
Oversees quality of product coming off press, such as color, quantity, print defects, ink adhesion, etc.
Participates in team meetings and sets an example of appropriate attitude and respect for other employees.
Functions as an effective team player.
Conforms to current SOP’s and GMP’s, 5's and lean processes.
Assists in quality checks and line clearance for other operators.
Assists in training of temporary workers and other Press Assistant/Apprentice workers.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must have 6 month’s work experience in a helper or press assistant role in Letterpress; one year’s experience preferred.
Must be able to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
Must be able to speak simple sentences.
Must be able to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
Must be able to effectively present in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and safety rules.
Must be able to perform intermediate arithmetic including decimals, fractions, ratios, etc.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must have mechanical aptitude up to and including press setup and repair.
Must be able to safely use the roll lifter and hand tools (Allen wrenches, Cresent wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, rubber mallets, etc) and also perform hoist operations.
Must pass color vision and color hue tests.
Must be able to maintain good attendance.
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
