Amazon is seeking a highly-intelligent, high-judgment, self-motivated, and creative communications professional to join our Operations External Public Relations team to lead PR for Transportation and Supply Chain. This role works with a variety of Operations and Transportation business lines to drive storytelling, campaign development, and reputation programs about Amazon’s supply chain network.
The ideal candidate will be based in Amazon’s headquarters in either Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA. To be successful in this role, the right candidate will have strong media relations acumen for both proactive campaigns and reactive issues, an ability to synthesize complex programs into digestible external communications programs, the ability to work at internet-speed, a creative mindset to develop, create, and deliver paid, earned, and owned campaigns, and a talent for collaboration with all levels of the organization. This individual will have experience delivering results with high standards under tight deadlines, solid writing abilities, and exceptional initiative. Creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude are a must.
Key job responsibilities
• Synthesize programs from varying transportation business lines into proactive external paid, earned, and owned engagement programs.
• Research and integrate industry news, trends and compelling angles into PR programs.
• Write, develop and manage approvals for strategic plans, owned content and/or news releases, narrative-driven messaging, and associated earned and owned materials.
• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges.
• Build and maintain relationships with top tier business, tech, and trade media outlets at a national scale.
• Manage executive spokespeople at senior levels within the organization for media interviews, and internal and external speaking engagements.
• Coordinate with multiple, high velocity partner teams across the organization, including Operations, internal communications, legal, policy, and more on integrated, cross-functional plans, plan reviews, and program activities.
• Effectively represent Amazon as a spokesperson.

Basic Qualifications
7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow timeframes.
Ability to think and communicate clearly – the ability to formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues and create a concise and well-written narrative to express it.
A team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done, and be nimble, flexible, and positive when asked to change course quickly.
Creativity and the ability to develop fresh concepts for generating media coverage.
Pay painstaking attention to important details.
Ideally having worked for a high visibility company and/or a public relations/public affairs agency on diverse reputational issues.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $101,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
