General Function
The Regional Program Coordinator is part of efactory’s business support and training programs and Missouri Small Business Development Center ( SBDC ) at Missouri State University. This position is responsible for coordinating efforts of MSU’s Economic Development Administration ( EDA ) University Center and overseeing a comprehensive grant program connecting individuals, employers, and economic development organizations with University resources. In collaboration with key partners and stakeholders, the Regional Program Coordinator will drive the successful implementation of initiatives aimed at advancing economic impact in the region. The Regional Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating various programs, collaborating with key partners, and ensuring the successful implementation of initiatives. This position is grant funded through the U.S. Economic Development Administration University Center program.
Description of Primary Duties
Develops, implements, and oversees strategies for MSU’s EDA University Center to promote, coordinate, and provide individuals, employers, economic development organizations, and communities with feasibility studies and economic impact reports, as well as other University resources.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with partner organizations, businesses, stakeholders, and community leaders to assist in developing, promoting, and coordinating the delivery of new and existing business support and talent development programs established by efactory, Missouri SBDC , and MSU’s EDA University Center which include but are not limited to economic impact/feasibility studies, course projects, business consulting, non-credit training, etc.
Facilitates collaboration between Missouri’s Economic Development Districts (EDDs) and efactory / MSU’s EDA University Center program to align efforts and resources.
Develops resources and conducts workshops for University staff, faculty, and students on various topics, including bringing ideas to market, innovation policies, Small Business Innovation Research ( SBIR ) and Small Business Technology Transfer Research ( STTR ) opportunities, starting a business, prototyping, and commercialization.
Develops resources and distributes information to employers and economic development organizations about MSU’s EDA University Center, facilitating better connections with available University resources.
Teaches a variety of business support and training classes and programs to groups as well as providing one on one consulting to businesses. This position coordinates and/or facilitates a variety of training programs year-round to provide technical assistance for business support; professional development, and workforce development.
Promotes MSU’s EDA University Center resources through various channels to raise awareness and encourage utilization within the community and among stakeholders. Attends and presents about MSU’s EDA University Center resources at regional, statewide, and national conferences and events as needed.
Promotes a positive image of the University through participation in community and professional organizations, represent the University at professional meetings and on community committees, and establishes and maintains credible relations with the campus and local communities, as well as professional organizations.
Works to formalize ongoing funding support for MSU’s EDA University Center activities post MSU’s EDA University Center award, ensuring continued sustainability and success of the program. Identifies and pursues potential funding sources through program revenue, grants, private support, and other efforts.
Monitors and evaluates programs, projects, and initiatives to track the progress and impact of funded projects. Collects and analyzes data to generate comprehensive reports on program outcomes and share findings with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.
Contributes to the overall success of the Division of Community and Global Partnerships by performing all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in Business Administration or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.
Experience: At least three years of professional full-time experience is required in progressively responsible positions that include experience in economic development, business development and consultation, or project management is required. Business ownership experience is preferred.
Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and management skills, in particular planning and budgeting, are required. Proven skills in program coordination, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Other: The scope of the position requires evening and occasional weekend work. Occasional overnight, out-of-town travel is required. This position is grant funded and will last as long as the funds to maintain the position allow.
