The Team:
This role sits within Credit Review's team having 3rd line coverage responsibility for Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) and leveraged lending. This team has a global presence, located alongside 1st and 2nd line teams. Inclusive of this role, 15 experienced credit professionals are dedicated to executing coverage of the portfolios comprising GCIB and leveraged lending. Upon joining the team, the EMEA Portfolio Manager will have another Portfolio Manager assigned as a peer coach, who will provide mentorship and coaching through and beyond our onboarding process.
Role Description:
In this role you will establish and execute a risk-based coverage plan of the EMEA portfolio. You will serve as subject matter expert in Credit Review for the portfolio, responsible for performing transactional testing of credit process execution of new and existing clients, secondary reviews of transactional testing completed by others and other portfolio monitoring activities. You will provide periodic updates to business heads and executive management, including communication of continuous testing and examination results, new issues and emerging risks.
Credit Review Overview:
Through continuous testing and periodic examinations, Credit Review provides an independent assessment of credit lending decisions and the effectiveness of credit processes and policies across the bank's credit platform, identifies existing and emerging risks, and reports its findings to various stakeholders, including executive management, the Board of Directors or committee thereof, external auditors and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
Subject matter expert for the EMEA portfolio of loansEstablishes and executes annual risk-based coverage plan of the EMEA portfolio, including transactional testing and examinationsPerforms transactional testing of credit process execution of new and existing clients, secondary reviews of transactional testing completed by others and other portfolio monitoring activitiesResponsible for the ongoing identification of key and emerging risksDocuments findings through quarterly reporting, including assessing and rating credit control effectiveness, direction of controls, and credit riskiness for the EMEA portfolioMaintains communication with 1st and 2nd line business partners, including communication of continuous testing and examination results, gaps/remediation needs, and attends meetings and routines as outlined in coverage planParticipates in examination activities as a subject matter expert and/or periodically serves as an examiner-in-charge and/or examinerActively participate in regulator meetings, liaise with regulators to provide periodic updates on monitoring/examination results, and respond to inquiries from regulators and other external reviewersProvide input to top of house Credit Review reporting for Board and senior managementActively engages with Corporate Audit to ensure ongoing awareness of review activity and ongoing risk assessment, and discuss emerging trendsMonitors front line unit issue remediation progress and coordinates issue validation activities, as neededDrive a culture of continuous improvement by leading or participating in complex or multiple projectsMaintain well-written, easy to follow work papers in accordance with Credit Review guidelines and best practices
What we are looking for:
Extensive commercial credit related experience, including deep understanding of large or complex credit takers and/or portfolios, and the EMEA regionExperience in risk management, lending and/or regulatory agenciesExcellent credit analysis and project management skills, excellent verbal and written communicationData manipulation and analysis skillsEffective process assessment skills - the ability to identify control gaps and their implications to the broader portfolioAbility to support conclusions through fact-based analysis and ability to influence senior leadersAbility to manage multiple complex tasks while delivering high quality resultsResourcefulness in identifying, assessing and reporting on emerging risksExperience with a Credit Review examination and/or ongoing monitoring processAbility to work in a team environment, focus on high quality executionExperience with leading without authority
