Description
SAIC is seeking a Political Liaison to coordinate, communicate and advise on Government programs with higher headquarters/staff and political offices to ensure proper advocacy and information sharing. You will play a crucial role in providing recommendations on how to navigate the political process and handle strategic communication. This position is on the Horizon contract, based in the National Capital Region of Virginia . It supports the Acquisition Delta for Space Warfighting within the Space Systems Command's Space Domain Awareness & Combat Power Program Executive Office.
Your primary responsibilities will involve communication and coordination, policy analysis and advise, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, compliance and ethics advisement, reporting and documenting, and crisis management. You will interact and coordinate daily with numerous stakeholders (Congressional Staffers, Program Element Monitors, Executive Departments outside the Department of Defense, and so on).
The Exciting Work You'll Be Doing:
Acting as the primary point of contact between the Government program office and political representatives, including lawmakers, government agencies, and other relevant political entities. This involves effectively communicating the needs, goals, and achievements of the military program to these stakeholders.
Analyzing relevant political policies, laws, and regulations that may affect the military program. Providing advice and strategic recommendations to the military program leaders on how to navigate the political landscape.
Representing the interests of the Government program in political forums, meetings, and discussions. Advocating for support, funding, or policy changes that benefit the military program.
Building and maintaining relationships with key political stakeholders. This includes regular engagement to keep stakeholders informed and involved in relevant aspects of the Government program.
Contributing to the development of long-term strategies for the Government program that take into account the political environment. Identifying opportunities and risks associated with political developments.
Ensuring that all interactions and engagements with political entities are conducted ethically and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Keeping detailed records of political engagements, decisions, and outcomes. Preparing reports for military program leadership that capture the political landscape and its implications for the program.
Assisting in managing any political crises or issues that may arise, ensuring that the military program's interests are protected and that responses are well-coordinated.
Working closely with other departments within the Government program, such as legal, public affairs, and international relations teams, to ensure a cohesive approach to political engagement.
Staying informed about political changes, trends, and new legislation that could impact the military program. Participating in relevant training and professional development activities.
Qualifications
This is you:
Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of relevant experience or a Masters Degree and 13 years of relevant experience with:
the United States Government political process
Interacting with Government agencies (e.g. Department of Defense, Department of State, Intelligence Community, etc)
Foreign Policy, and
Risk/Crisis Management
Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable)
Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartment Information and Special Access Programs and willing to consent to a Polygraph examination
