Police Equipment Inventory Specialist:
Manages and coordinates department purchases including equipment, clothing, facility needs, office supplies, and miscellaneous items between the fleet and supply service areas.
Maintains and organizes inventory of vehicles and supplies.
Develops and maintains an inventory control program and maintains accurate records on inventory levels and projections.
Ensures all paperwork and documentation is complete and up to date.
Work is performed independently and under general direction.
Essential Functions
Purchases parts, supplies, materials, equipment, clothing, furniture, appliances and miscellaneous items. Ensures compliance with city procurement procedures and policies. Acts as a liaison regarding all Boise Police Department equipment for internal and external customers and manages administrative details. Troubleshoots and resolves issues regarding the use of inventory items, including fuel credit cards. Provides statistics regarding equipment currently held, sold or destroyed for replacement, budgeting and billing purposes. Serves on relevant department committees and corresponds with vendors. Evaluates bids and recommends appropriate vendors. Tracks items received against purchase orders and monitor backorders.
Oversees equipment inventory by organizing and maintaining adequate stock of purchased items. Oversees inventory control and analyzes supply use and expenses against the budget. Codes inventory and enters data and verifies the accuracy of the data to ensure accurate billing and contact information. Maintains reports on inventory levels and projections and conducts audits to ensure information and data accurately reflect the inventory on hand. Maintains and updates the database of city assets. Processes records for payment accounts. Removes obsolete items from inventory and prepares items for surplus sales.
Ensures licensure, insurance, and record keeping comply with city guidelines for fleet vehicles and inventory items. Performs basic upkeep and transportation of inventory items, including fleet vehicles, as necessary.
Tracks equipment testing, recall notifications, insurance claims, maintenance schedules, the mobile dispatch terminal (MDT), and radio issues. Ensures all required vehicle tests are completed and notices are processed.
Repairs and cleans clothing, equipment, and other items using prescribed decontamination procedures relating to hazardous chemicals and body fluids.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in inventory management, administrative support, procurement experience, or a related field.
Knowledge of: warehouse budget development and maintenance; principles and practices of purchasing and bid specification development; supply management and inventory control; efficient and convenient methods of receipt, storage, and issuance of inventory; software used in word processing and database management; and bookkeeping, budgeting, and accounting.
Ability to: read and interpret rules, regulations, and a variety of information related to purchasing; coordinate activities with a variety of individuals and agencies; prepare a variety of bid specifications; clean and repair contaminated and damaged equipment; use problem-solving skills and present solutions to administrators; accurately perform mathematical calculations; maintain confidentiality with sensitive documents or information; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Three years of inventory management and procurement experience or experience maintaining a fleet of vehicles.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Valid state-issued driver's license.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate and rarely very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, runn, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, work in/at heights and confined spaces. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals. Walkways, ice, traffic, mechanical shop hazardous areas, any hazardous materials left in patrol vehicles, etc. Firearms, stop stick, and flares that are equipped within the vehicles.
This position works: occasional weekends if staffing is required to keep vehicles in the fleet mobile.
