The position is within the Plant Engineering group in the Global Engineering Services organization. The primary roles within this group include nuclear plant site layout, equipment, piping & HVAC layout, seismic interaction assessments, internal/external missile assessments, fuel handling and material handling equipment & tooling design, commodity clearance evaluations, flooding evaluations and other hazard protection evaluations. The position provides broad-ranging experience of advanced nuclear plant designs including interfaces with systems, equipment, structures, and physical plant arrangement.
Your Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesWork on teams that support the design, fabrication, construction, and maintenance of large-scale nuclear and non-nuclear projectsProvide technical coordination between different functional areas to ensure overall plant design meets design parameters, requirements, and reduce potential for physical layout conflicts between commoditiesPerform physical arrangement assessments of the nuclear island structures, equipment, piping, commodities, and supports using 3D design softwareRead and interpret engineering drawings and criteria documentsWork with the Westinghouse proprietary digital design architecture (NEXUS) to author, review and verify engineering designs and conduct in-depth reviews of 3D model and plant designsHelp prepare technical reports to satisfy applicable regulatory, code, and/or contract requirementsProvide engineering support to design, fabrication, and construction organizations including responding requests for information (RFI's), design changes, and deviations by interfacing with engineers in different departments and global work locations
Minimum requirementsWho You Are:As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineer). 2022 & 2023 New Grads encouraged to apply0-4 years of experience preferredA strong motivation to pursue Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification and Professional Engineering licensure (PE)Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.Highly motivated with a desire to learn and continually develop. High personal investment in your development, both in terms of technical knowledge as well as leadershipA capability to embrace work in a highly diverse environment, with team members from different cultures and experiences in integrated global teams, respecting and leveraging each professional contributionAbility to work effectively both remotely, from home office, as well as from customer site to support customer projects globally
