As a Plant Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Peaker Electric assets. You will conduct equipment and facility inspections, acquire equipment and process data, and monitor equipment health. You will help identify emergent issues and be responsible for managing small O&M projects and will act as the point of contact for all engineering issues and will work with both internal and external engineers. You will be reporting to Engineering Manager of Plant Engineering Division, which is part of Asset Management and Generation Strategy department of the Generation Organization.
Support emergent equipment and process issues related to all Mountainview Generating Station and BESS assets Ensure proper inspection of equipment and facilities as required by OEM recommendations, best industry practices, permit, regulation, or policy. Coordinate with project teams on major projects and the Operations team for regular work Utilize engineering and knowledge of utility best practices for analyzing and evaluating operations and maintenance practices to continuously improve performance Help the Utility make risk informed decisions pertaining to regular and capital investments Support preparation of capital and operating work plans for the annual and long-term planning horizons Lead the maintenance optimization effort for the Mountainview Power Plant Present findings and solutions to senior leadership team. Support condition-based monitoring plans and actions Support the corrective action program and the associated evaluations Lead test execution and analysis of test data Utilize power generation, controls, and software expertise to work with other departments for optimizing plant operation Work with plant operation and maintenance leads in developing, allocating, validating, tracing, verifying, and documenting activities Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
The essentials
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering 5 years of engineering experience. Experience supporting Power plants or Transmission and Distribution. Valid Driver's License.
The preferred
Three years of Electric Utility engineering experience. Master's in engineering. Experience in requirements development, verification, and validation of electrical equipment for power production (preferably on commercial applications). P. E. License. Typically possesses 8 or more years working in progressing responsible plant engineering positions. Proven experience in preparing/justification of capital projects. Experience with electrical power systems, power generation technical and certification requirements. Experience with engineering tools for troubleshooting plant operation issues. Ability to contribute in a team environment.
You should know
This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. Position will require approximately 10% traveling (vehicle travel) and occasional overnight stays. Able to drive, fly, traverse on uneven surfaces (hiking), sit/stand and work in various weather conditions, for extended periods of time. Relocation may apply to this position. This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
