About Physical Test Property Lead- Global Tech Center

  Job Description

  This position is required to be onsite full time.

  The Manufacturing Electrical Process Integration and Development Lab is designed to address manufacturing engineering and operational needs to support GM’s virtualization objectives. This lab will provide electrical bench equipment in support of software defined vehicles, build process strategy, and Vehicle as a Tester (VaaT). The purpose is to provide environments for development, evaluate, test, and integrate general assembly use cases.

  This lab will assess the assembly process in which electrical components, circuits, or systems are installed and validated in a controlled laboratory environment. This testing is crucial in ensuring the functionality, performance, and reliability of vehicle electrical assembly process before it is deployed in real-world applications. The lab will collaborate with other teams in product development, manufacturing engineering and manufacturing operations to improve the overall manufacturing assembly process and quality.

  The Physical Test Property lead is responsible for bench/vehicle configuration, wiring, parts procurement, scheduling, flashing, and managing dSPACE/Simulink projects validation of simulation and bench environment.

  KPIs for this position can include bench uptime and operations. Ontime procurement. Maintain bench schedules and program change over.

  Responsibilities

  Lead physical testing properties by procuring hardware, creating wire harness build instructions, and working with simulation teams to integrate simulated components (dSPACE)

  Verify operation of features/functions on ECU/module interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, and LIN

  Identify, document, troubleshoot and review issues found

  Coordinate update of test properties and ensure they are ready to support planned testing/development work

  Acquire and analyze data logs for root cause identification of complex software/system issues

  Ensure issue resolution was performed timely and properly, own and drive issues to closure

  Required Qualifications

  BS in Engineering

  2+ years of work experience or equivalent

  Proven track record & drive to do hands-on work such as ECU (Electronic Control Unit) flashing, vehicle updates, component removal/installation

  Experience troubleshooting distributed control systems

  Understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools like vehicle serial data logger tools

  Experience with wire harness design and troubleshooting

  Understanding of the end user’s experience with features on their vehicle

  Proactive / results driven individual with high levels of initiative to work with multiple organizations to solve integration issues

  Working knowledge of Vehicle Development Process

  Preferred Qualifications

  Demonstrates hands-on experience with automotive electrical interfaces like CAN, and LIN experience with ethernet highly preferred.

  Experience with Unified Diagnostics Service, Vehicle Spy, network communication tools

  Experience working on problem solving through software application/tools development

  Experience with dSPACE and Simulink
