  Position Summary

  THE ROLE: We are seeking a PFAS Technical Lead. The PFAS Technical Lead will establish the vision, dene the enabling strategy, and execute operations as they relate to the integration of technology needed to meet the organizations PFAS and broader emerging contaminants business targets. They will combine a deep understanding of PFAS, customer needs, regulatory & economic drivers, and emerging technology with strong knowledge of Xylems current portfolio of solutions and its future strategy to develop technology roadmaps leading to the incorporation of key technologies through new product development, partnership, and acquisition.

  They will provide input on needs, feasibility, practical solutions, relevant technology, ease of implementation, cost, and barriers related to PFAS management for dierent markets and applications using currently available solutions in the present regulatory environment and the potential impact of pending regulations and emerging technology.

  The PFAS Technical Lead will navigate the complexity of the PFAS landscape and provide clear guidance to the PFAS Program Manager and business stakeholders; providing recommendations in relation to new or improved technology oerings in existing or adjacent markets to unlock commercial opportunities; quantify the associated risks, uncertainties, costs, timing, and resource needs; and garnering and maintaining alignment with product development and strategy teams across the organization. They will lead gap identication, scouting, evaluation, R&D, testing, piloting, validation, and implementation initiatives while providing clear updates on progress to stakeholders.

  The PFAS Technical Lead will engage with external partners including clients to understand their needs, recommend solutions, and oversee pilot projects & full-scale implementations of PFAS sensing, treatment, and destruction technologies; startups to evaluate technologies and establish commercial partnerships; suppliers to validate media and testing capabilities; government agencies to communicate the industrys technical perspective, and universities to license novel advancements leading to dierentiated oerings.

  THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of the complex PFAS space and the interdependencies between science, technology, regulation, and market dynamics. They will have strong technical skills across domains, be a fast learner, and remain focused on delivering practical commercial solutions based on business and customer constraints. They will excel in highly uncertain environments and deliver straight forward recommendations focused on customer needs and business impact. They will be a strong communicator, able to simplify complicated technical topics and convey a clear understanding of opportunity, action, rationale, risk, uncertainty, and impact to decision makers. They will be adaptable, both to meet the needs of the program as it grows and to react to market changes. They will be a strong individual contributor with broad experience, adept at engaging internal and external collaborators across the organization to eectively achieve goals. They will understand the need to consider multiple perspectives and maintain strong alignment across the global organization.

  Core Responsibilities and Tasks

  Strategy/General

  Support in identifying and building the case for the big strategic bets leading to growth in the category, including product development opportunities, expansion into adjacencies, cross-selling and upselling potential, and new business models.

  Identify portfolio gaps in established and adjacent target markets, champion initiatives to deliver solutions to meet growth objectives.

  Dene technological solution sets to meet customer needs in current & future markets in support of market strategy development.

  Engage in thought leadership activities internally and externally including technical client/conference presentations, publishing white papers, developing training, and participating on panels.

  Eectively communicate to key stakeholders on technology, trends, gaps, unmet customer needs, and program plans/status.

  Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, strategic account managers, business development teams, strategy teams, segment/regional business leads, and government aairs Commercial/Product Management

  Support the PFAS Program Manager to evaluate market opportunities, develop nancial models, dene pricing strategies, prepare proposals, and negotiate contracts.

  Translate customer needs into technical specications and dene holistic solutions including site-analysis, sensing, removal, transportation, concentration, disposal, and destruction.

  Participate in content creation for global PFAS training, both internally and externally

  Work with product teams to lead NPD projects/programs through the Stage Gate process Technical/Innovation

  Drive the incorporation of new innovations into Xylems solutions portfolio through a strong understanding of customer needs, emerging technology, & regulatory developments

  Generate technology roadmaps; dening objectives, market needs & drivers, portfolio assessments, gaps, priorities, initiatives, resource needs, milestones, and outcomes.

  Dene and execute projects to design, develop, validate, and incorporate new technologies; including establishing benchmarking criteria, laboratory & pilot testing, development plans, scale-up, and launch plans.

  Determine the range of viability for emerging technologies; considering performance, cost, scalability, manufacturability, and protability under dierent regulatory scenarios and in dierent markets.

  Conduct technical due diligence on acquisition targets in the areas of PFAS sensing, removal, and destruction.

  Position Requirements

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  Bachelor's degree in engineering or science

  10 15+ years of relevant experience

  Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

  Strong technical PFAS background with knowledge of customer, business, regulatory, and legal implications

  PREFERRED:

  Masters degree in engineering or science

  Experience working with utilities in municipal drinking water or wastewater.

  Experience with Stage Gate Process

  Experience with MS Project and Project Online preferred
