As an Underwriter within the Middle & Large Commercial organization, you will quarterback the sales and underwriting process by building exceptionally strong and lasting relationships with agents and brokers, ensuring that The Hartford is the carrier of choice.
Success in this role will also entail effective account stewardship by managing the sales process from strategic planning to operational excellence and developing cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across the team.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience5+ years of P&C Middle Market competing carrier underwriting experience requiredDemonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partnersExcellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skillsAn ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spiritDemonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skillsGoal-oriented and delivers outcomesAbility to challenge the status quo and compete to winSuperior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.This role may be a Hybrid or Remote-in-territory work arrangement. Candidates who live within a reasonable commuting distance to one of the posted locations will have the expectation of working in an office or making sales calls 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) . Only candidates in territory will be considered given the agent-facing nature of the role, with an expectation of traveling weekly to agents and brokers as well as the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Position level will be determined after careful review of the selected candidate's experience
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$59,440 - $116,880
The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
