Payroll is part of the Global People Team and operates within a shared service environment delivering a range of related systems and services. Payroll is a business-critical operation and requires working at pace, subject matter competence, operational compliance, and customer service to fulfil its obligations. The NA Payroll Specialist is a cross-functional role, responsible for providing consistent payroll service and support to all locations and business units across the North America payroll department (United States). The role will ensure accurate and timely preparation and processing of the company's bi-weekly payrolls, independent review and provide excellent customer service, with a focus on ensuring a positive and seamless employee experience.

Key responsibilities:
Oversee all bi-weekly payroll preparation in US and reconciliation activity ahead of payroll submission and the following pay cycle completion and close tasks. Assists the payroll team with the processing of any irregular payments and/ or off-cycle payments such as incentive and bonus payments, obtaining approval by the Payroll Manager. Work with payroll team and lead on escalated issues through to resolution with root cause analysis and corrective action for all levels of employees and management. Lead the reconciliation of quarterly and annual reporting of wages and taxes. Liaise with tax agencies from local, state, provincial, and federal as it relates to tax enquiries and reporting. Perform advanced payroll calculations such as ESPP, restricted stock and dividend payments. Lead on payroll system enhancements and interfaces with related applications. Identify process improvements and support/ lead in the implementation of changes in policy and/ or process. Ensure compliance with the agreed processes and identify areas of process or system improvement. Maintains current knowledge of city, state, provincial, territorial, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Ability to plan and prioritize tasks and deadlines and successfully always deliver against the payroll cycle calendar. Contribute to the attainment of team KPIs and SLA measures. Role model and deliver an excellent standard of customer service. Effectively manage complex business enquiries including more sensitive employee matters. Ability to work in a team is especially important. Must have strong interpersonal skills, maintaining a professional demeanor and understanding the pressures and priorities which may be affecting other team members.Lead or partner with other members of the team to fulfill periodic audit requests.Provides constructive recommendations and initiates actions to support company initiatives and goals.Performs related duties as assigned and completes any other tasks necessary for administering a company's payroll process
What will you bring to the role?
Associate degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.At least 3 years' experience utilizing extensive knowledge of processing high volume US payroll (8K+ employees), including statutory requirements such as year-end reporting. Expert knowledge of payroll systems along with direct experience of people systems and highly experienced at preparing and producing ad-hoc reporting from these systems. Proficient knowledge of office programs, in particular Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze data. ADP Workforce NOW experience required.Expert knowledge and experience in reviewing and implementing payroll operational controls, processes, and procedures. Accountable for the review, approval, and delivery of multiple large payrolls across US. Responsible for ensuring payroll completeness, quality, accuracy, and timeliness of processing in order to meet stringent deadlines. Responsible for the completion of all quality checks, balances, and reconciliation activities. Responsible for the timely response and resolution of inquiries from employees, line managers and other areas of the business. Experience working with external vendors and systems covering all areas of the employee life cycle (Recruitment and on-boarding, Benefits, People Admin as well as Payroll)Expert in working within a large high-volume payroll team for a multinational organization working across multiple US jurisdictions.Previous experience working within a Shared Service operating environment and within a third-party payroll provider environment.
