Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Integrated Cabin and Cargo (Payloads/Interiors) team is looking for a multi-skilled Payloads / Cabin Interior Design Engineer (M, F, D) (Experienced or Senior) to join their Seats Integration Team (SIT) in Hamburg, Germany . This is a new center of a highly skilled team of engineers starting in 2024.
The ideal candidate will have experience in seat design.
The Payloads Organization is responsible for everything you see when you fly; and much of which you don’t. The Interiors of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety all make up Payloads. We are how our airline customers fulfill their mission, represent their brand, and shape how the public experiences flight. Our organization is a fast-paced, dynamic environment, which pulls from many engineering backgrounds.
Seat Engineers are responsible for managing the integration of multiple development passenger seat programs into Boeing aircraft by overseeing supplier seat designs to ensure all customer, regulatory, and Boeing requirements are met. To be successful requires extensive coordination with Customer Engineering, Payload Configuration, Supplier Management, Seat Suppliers, Airline Customers, numerous interfacing program commodity teams, regulatory administration, FAA, and factory personnel. In addition, a strong engineering foundation is needed to review and approve supplier technical data, understand certification test requirements, prepare engineering releases to support seat and systems installations, and author and release compliance summary reports. Must be able to represent the company professionally in demanding environments. Airline Customers and Seat Suppliers are located around the globe, requiring flexibility to support meetings at any time, as well as the need for travel, domestically and internationally.
Payloads is seeking candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
Engineering support and project leadership within a production system.
Direct engagement working with/for aerospace suppliers or airlines.
Validating/demonstrating compliance with regulatory requirements.
Working with regulators.
Design for manufacturing.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops, integrates, and documents interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
Performs or oversees approval of analyses and test/inspection results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit customers and subcontractors.

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering.
5 years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.
Experience leading a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria, and release processes.
5 years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity (including development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.).
9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated interest in continuous learning and development.
Typical Education/Experience:
Experienced (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
Senior (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
