Responsibilities
Schedules all follow-up appointments in the practice management systemfollowing the provider order and/or office protocol in a high-volume clinicsetting.
Cancels/reschedules appointments according to patient or physicianscheduling changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect thepatient and clinic/practice.
Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the frontoffice. Covers for other front office functions as requested.
Schedule outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions uponrequest. May obtain necessary authorization and pre-certification as required.
May communicate to patient about tests being scheduled and potential prepwork needed, inquiring about test specifics from necessary parties andgathering patient information as needed
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. At leasteighteen (18) months front medical office receptionist experience withinsurance forms and scheduling software required. Knowledge of thispractice's personnel, daily routines, and scheduling a plus. Proficiencywith computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)required. -Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90days of occupying position. -Demonstrates adaptability: Handles day to daywork challenges confidently; is willing and able to adjust to multipledemands, shifting priorities; demonstrates flexibility. -Shows workcommitment: Sets high standards of performance and works efficiently toachieve them. -Commits to quality: Emphasizes the need to deliver qualityproduPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essentialfunctions of this job. Requires corrected vision and hearing tonormal range.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may include exposure to communicablediseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations andother conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Workwill involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/orclients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.All qualified candidates are required to pass a background check andnon-federal drug test (which excludes marijuana) post offer of employmentand prior to hire.Candidates will be required to show proof of being vaccinated againstinfluenza upon commencing employment.
