PRN PCT in Pre/Post area
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned by the physician or RN. These duties may vary by shift or may be unit-specific. Serves the population from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Transports patients in a safe and efficient manner; includes checking patient identification and reviewing chart for basic requirements.
· Performs or assists patients with personal hygiene such as, perineal care, oral hygiene, back rubs, making occupied/unoccupied carts, obtaining meals, sensory devices (i.e., hearing aids).
· Assists patient with ambulation.
· Assists patients in dressing/undressing.
· Assists patient with elimination needs (i.e., bedpans, urinal, ambulation to bathroom). Empties catheter bags and colostomy bags.
· Measures and records temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure, measures and records height and weight.
· Answers patient call lights and responds appropriately.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Completion of 75-hour or 120-hour Certified Nursing Assistant Program or a minimum of one semester of nursing school.
· Must be on State C.N.A. Registry (If not enrolled in Nursing school)
· Previous hospital experience preferred.
· Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, their families and/or significant others; and to communicate effectively with co-workers and physicians.
· Work requires the analytic ability necessary to prioritize own workload.
· Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. The acceptable credentialing body is the American Heart Association.
· Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
· Ability to read, write and speak English language.
