　　The Patient Access Services Specialist functions as an integral member of the team and is the first point of contact for all patients seeking care in any of our facilities serving in an advanced registration/check-in role. The primary role is to ensure correct and complete patient account information ensuring excellence in patient care/services, compliance requirements and revenue capture. This position serves an advanced registration/check-in role, cross-trained to function within any needed area and/or hospital.

　　This position is full-time (40 hours/week). Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 10:00am - 6:00pm, candidate will work every other weekend. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime and weekends. Our offices are located at the following:

　　Primary Responsibilities:

　　Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits on all assigned accounts using electronic verification systems or by contacting payers directly to determine level of insurance coverage. When contacting payers directly, utilizes approved scripting. Identifies outstanding balances from patient's previous visits and attempts to collect any amount due. Trains staff on computer systems, new processes, payer updates and assigned reporting Functions as a Superuser for primary computer systems Proactively identifies and leads department process improvement opportunities Works on Special Projects as needed Performs the duties of a Patient Access Representative Maintains up-to-date knowledge of specific admission, registration, and pre-registration requirements for all areas

　　Required Qualifications:

　　High School Diploma / GED (or higher) OR equivalent experience 1+ years of electronic patient account experience including determining patient financial status and eligibility requirements 2+ years of Customer Service experience such as hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phone support Experience with Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel Ability to travel up to 50% of the time between multiple location within the Central NY area 140 Burwell St, Little Falls, NY 13365 1 Norton Ave, Oneonta, NY 13820 1 Atwell Road, Cooperstown NY. 13326 Ability to work between 10:00am - 6:00pm, candidate will work every other weekend

　　Preferred Qualifications:

　　Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting Working knowledge of medical terminology Understanding of insurance policies and procedures Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments Experience in requesting and processing financial payments

　　Soft Skills:

　　Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills

　　Physical and Work Environment:

　　Standing for long periods of time (10 to 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone/headset

　　New York Residents Only: The hourly range for New York residents is $16.00 to $31.44 per hour.
