Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator – Pre-Hospital Services or Regional Manager Pre- Hospital Services and the direct voice order of the Medical Commander, responds to EMS calls and performs a variety of functions related to the care and treatment of patients suffering from urgent and emergent disease and/or injury states in accordance with appropriate rules, regulations, and protocols. according to PA DOH EMS Act and scope of practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responds to EMS calls, observes safety policies, and operates an emergency vehicle with due regard for others.
Prepares, hangs, monitors, and discontinues I.V. fluids.
Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.
Responds to emergency calls as a single Advanced Life Support Provider
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience:
1 year in busy 911 system
Minimum Education:
High School or G.E.D.
Required Certification:
Certification as Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic in PA OR Pre-hospital RN Certification; BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications; Medical Command Authorization
Required Courses:
Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC); Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO); National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 – Hazardous Materials Awareness
Physical Demands:
Frequent prolonged standing/walking
Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
Must be able to lift 60 pounds minimum in equipment (i.e., monitor and gear bags)
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
