A. POSITION SUMMARY:
Effectively paint by applying various types of coatings utilizing spray and brush techniques to high quality, military hardware. Deliver output aligned with company quality, delivery and cost goals in order to meet customer expectations and contractual requirements which positively impact the company business results.
B. COMMON ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Translate blueprint instructions and manufacturing data sheets into specific painting
requirements and actionMix paint and required components in accordance with industry standards and appropriate military specifications
Prepare surfaces to be painted by cleaning and masking where appropriate
Prime surfaces to be painted by applying proper chemicals for optimal adhesion
Paint by properly operating spray gun by adjusting air pressure and gun nozzle to guarantee proper finish in accordance with industry standards and military specifications
Manually touch up small defects with a brush by feathering and blending
Strip/remove paint by using chemical and mechanical techniques
Exercise inventory control and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with the
company rules and regulations
Accurately record all required documentation including operation sheets and chemical
consumption logsComply with KEO rules and requirements including 5S responsibilities applicable to the
cleaning, operation and maintenance of all equipment and areas including personal working area and common area, ensuring the safety of oneself and others
Comply with the company rules and requirements regarding the proper use of Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE) and quality safety processes designed to protect all associates working in or near the paint room
Perform housekeeping activities including but not limited to changing filters, cleaning paint booth and paint booth walls and floor, spray gun and hoses
Includes all essential duties of Grade 5 Assembler
Assist with shipping & receiving duties as necessary GRADE 5:
Work to a tolerance of 15 seconds on optical parts and .001” mechanical
Set up and operate engraving machines, drill press, milling machine and bench lathe to a tolerance of .002”
Responsible for own work including set up
Distinguish quality defects and bring to the attention of supervisor or group leader.
Final clean the more complicated assemblies or instruments
GRADE 6:
Degrease of parts for purpose of being clean for prime/paint process
Ability to detail mask/unmask various surfaces, prepping for primer/paint
Ability to mix paint, lacquer, enamel to specified color and consistency
Plain lacquer
Crystalized surfaces
Matt finish
Ability to adjust and operate spray gun and equipment
appropriate air pressure
nozzle settings
appropriate cleaning practices with approved solvents
Dexterity and skills to perform touch up, fine hand paint application
Ability to work/adjust baking ovens and control temperatures
Ability to maintain paint booth and PM of exhaust fans
C. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Completed vocational track in mechanical assembly or applicable track
1+ years experience in general mechanical assembly or auto mechanic assembly
Ability to read and understand blueprints, operation data sheets & computerized instructions.
US citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance
D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Fine motor dexterity & hand/eye coordination
Ability to recognize colors, with or without the use of glasses or corrective lenses
Must be able to lift 32 lbs, sit or stand for up to 8 hours and climb stairs
Must pass annual physical test required by OSHA for use of respirator E. SUCCESS FACTORS

F. ENVIRONMENT
Light manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals and solvents
Involves handling and use of hazardous materials
