JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: To work directly with theMilwaukee Health Department Office of Violence Prevention (MHD/OVP), thecommunity residents, businesses, and other community-based organizationsto implement the Cure Violence Model. Skilled OW\'s are a key ingredientto the success of this initiative and are essential in helping tofacilitate positive change among high-risk individuals, focusing on agegroup 14-35. Work directly with the 414Life/Cure Violence Team and thecommunity to prevent shootings. To establish a \"Credible\" reputationin the community focusing on \"High-Risk\" individuals to gain a rapportof trust. Maintain a caseload of participants and work closely with themto assist them in improving their quality of life and empowering them byconnecting them with valuable resources. Primary Functions Conductoutreach in the community to build strong relationships with youth,residents, community groups, and businesses Distribute and track 414Life public education/norm change materials in target and priorityneighborhoods Conducting outreach to the community (individually and asa team member) to build strong relationships with youth, residents,businesses, and community groups Attend and assist in planning communityevents centered on changing norms around violence Identifying youth andyoung adults who are involved in group-based violence and intervene intheir lives through case management Provide frequent contact, links toservices and opportunities/assistance programs, and culturallyresponsive mentorship to caseload of high-risk individuals Participatein organizing response to shootings and increasing visibility whenshootings/killings take place, including developing networks with otheroutreach program workers to coordinate an inclusive and strategicresponse) Collaborate with community, outreach programs and local lawenforcement in crisis response and to gain information that may behelpful in preventing additional killings Identifying \"hot spots\" forshootings and violence (conducting eyeball surveys with residents andcommunity organizations to identify areas frequented by potentialshooters) and provide documentation Document shootings and other acts ofviolence prevented Respond to shootings in other communities, whennecessary Timely documentation of all daily activities and preventedviolence using designated tracking database May be required to work lateevenings and weekends as dictated by the timing of conflicts and/orshootings Preferred Schedule: Primarily 1st shift, but will include sometimes and weekends Position Requirements: Knowledge -...
