Job Description
Oversee daily operation of Nature Center, Amelia’s Wheels, and Herons Cove Adventure Golf. To exceed guest expectations and implement high quality Nature activities/ services and to provide a safe environment for our guests and associates. To provide a unique experience by offering bike rentals, Island Hoppers, and Segway Tours.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the Nature Center, Amelia’s Wheels, and Herons Cove Adventure Golf operations
Lead trainer for Naturalists, Nature Aids, Naturalist Interns, Amelia’s Wheels rental attendants and Heron's Cove Adventure Golf attendants
Responsible for contributing ideas to increase revenue, and improve the operation of Nature Center, Amelia’s Wheels, and Herons Cove adventure golf
Act as a coach and be a positive role model for associates and colleagues
Monitor and provide timely feedback, counseling, and performance evaluations to associates
Coordinate with manager the purchasing of supplies needed for each division.
Isolate and analyze areas in need of improvement and take immediate action
Complete financial reports, control payroll, and monitor expenses
Prepare purchase orders for the department using Omni purchasing policy's
Assist in all other aspects of the recreation department as needed
Promote resort programs and prices in the resort guide, marketing and other relevant avenues
Lead on or off property trips and day long programs
Handle guest/member complaints
Work holiday special programs as scheduled
Lead various tours for guests and property owners of all ages.
Continually develop to enhance current programs and create new program ideas for tours and other related activities
Nature Center
Working knowledge of the ecosystems of a coastal barrier island (Amelia Island)
Able to identify bird species, native plants and be able to explain information to guests
Conduct nature tours on property using a variety of transportation (foot, kayak, bike, Segway, or Island Hopper)
Responsible for retail cleanliness, stocking of products, and inventory
Instruct and implement cash handling procedures
Clean and care for Nature Center, animals, exhibit and maintain the health of the animals
Working knowledge of retail operation in the Nature Center
Amelia’s Wheels:
Responsible for opening and closing procedures of Amelia's Wheels
Routine maintenance of all Amelia's Wheels Bicycles, Island Hoppers and Segways
Able to ride a Segway and become a certified instructor to lead property Segway tours
Become familiar with Omni Amelia Island bike trails and tour routes
Work in Amelia's Wheels' by providing guest assistance including but not limited to, providing guests with property information, on property directions, providing rentals of Bicycles and Island Hoppers, leading Segway tours
Ensure all bicycles, Island Hoppers, and Segways are clean, safe and act immediately with any concerns
Keep a strict inventory of the Bicycles, Island Hoppers and Segways
Hotel Specific Essential Functions:
Maintain standards of guest services and consistent positive guest experience as documented by J.D. Power and AAA Ratings
Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotels culture, rules, and regulations
Answer phones using the proper "Moments of Service" scenario
Provide guests with cheerful, personable, efficient service
Responsible for a clean and professional appearance of uniforms
Attend and participate in department meetings, monthly All Together Get Together
Fully understand and implement "Moments of Service" and “Power of Engagement”
Interact with every guest using Omni Standards
Knowledgeable about all hotel amenities and property specifics
Actively participate in the assurance of the safety of all guests
Treat everyone, supervisors, staff and guests with courtesy and respect always
Follow all state mandates laws, policies, surveys, testing's required
Oversee all aspects of Outdoor Recreation (Nature Center, Amelia’s Wheels, and Heron’s Cove Adventure Golf)
Qualifications
Tools and Equipment:
Kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, bikes, Segways, golf carts, trucks, binoculars, basic tools, and power tools.
Aquariums, tanks and all associated cleaning tools.
First aid equipment.
Computer, printer and all related software programs, Point of Sale (POS), telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine, facsimile machine, receipt printers, etc.
Computer Software: Microsoft Programs: Excel, Word, Power-Point, Publisher, Outlook; Xola; Resort Suite
Recreational equipment : aquarium equipment, bikes, Island hoppers, Segway, fishing poles, kayaks, paddle boards, binoculars, cast and minnow nets, water quality sample kits, basic manuals, hand tools, power tools, animal rescue equipment, other recreation supplies
Working Environment:
Exposure to various weather conditions
Exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures
Exposed to minimal amounts of various hazardous chemicals
Exposure to poisonous plants, animals and insects
Exposure to low dose of household chemicals
Areas: Nature Center, Amelia's Wheels, Hotel Pool, Drummond Point Park, Walkers Landing, Bike Trails, and various off property nature excursions
Physical Job Requirements (for essential functions only)
Valid drivers license
Able to lift and lift up to 60-100 pounds occasionally and 30-50 pounds repeatedly
Able to swim and tread water
Able to stand and walk for long periods of time
Able to complete Segway certification within 60 days of hire
Able to complete kayak rescue training within 60 days of hire
Cash Handling procedures implemented
Able to stoop, push, or pull for long periods of time
Must be able to hear, have good or corrected vision, and a good sense of balance
Associate must be able to verbally communicate clearly and effectively to various sized groups of resort guests
Able to multi-task effectively
