JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position will work 32 hrs per week JobDescription and Essential Functions Job Title/Position: OphthalmicTechnician Job Classification: Direct Patient Care / Hands-On PatientCare Date of Analysis: 9/7/16 Date of Revision/Review:__________________________________________________________________________________________Brief Description of Job Responsibilities: * Maintain and stock allrooms * Clean and maintain instruments * Order supplies * Preparepatients to see the ophthalmologist including patient education forprocedures and surgery * Order and dispense contact lenses * Triagepatient phone calls within scope of practice * Communicate withproviders about patient calls received * Perform patient exams anddiagnostic tests * Install eye drops * Prepare patients for minorin-office surgery and laser procedures * Call in prescription refillsas directed * Assist in scheduling patients * Communicate withhospitals and other offices as directed by providers * Room patients *Assist with procedures Specialized Responsibilities: PerformanceRequirements: * Patient history taking * Triage of patient concernsand ability to schedule appropriately * Ability to perform lensometryand neutralize patients\' glasses * Ability to perform diagnostic testssuch as Visual Field, OCT, Topography, etc. * Ability to performkeratometry * Ability to perform basic tonometry * Ability to evaluateocular motility * Ability to perform retinoscopy and obtain a manifestrefraction * Ability to perform fundus photography * Ability toperform A-scan measurements * Ability to perform IOL calculations *Ability to prepare the lasers for physicians * Assist physicians withinteroffice surgical procedures and lasers * Knowledge of ocularanatomy * Knowledge of systemic diseases and their impact on eyes *Knowledge of medical terminology * Knowledge of surgical procedures *Knowledge of clinical optics * Knowledge of ocular pharmacology *Knowledge of laser and surgical procedures * Knowledge of clinic anddepartment policies and procedures related to infection prevention,disaster plans and safety processes * Knowledge of organizationalpolicies, relations and procedures to administer patient care *Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patientcare Education/Experience/Certifications: * High school diploma orequivalent * Graduation from an accredited program for ophthalmicassistant or technician preferred but not required * 3-5 years\'experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a clinical settingNon-Essential Duties: Other duties as assigned within scope of practiceTypical Working Conditions: The typical working conditions are in aclinical office and laboratory environment dealing with multiplepatients in a fast...
