We call it Love + Medicineand it\'s who we are.Job Description: Performs support functions to theeye practices of the department including pre-testing for appointmentsand various diagnostic tests. Major Responsibilities: 1. Performpreliminary testing procedures to include measurement and verificationof visual acuity and checking intra-ocular pressures. Interview patientto develop statement of visual history. 2. Responsible for administeringHumphrey visual field diagnostic procedures as well as OCT analysis ofoptic nerve and retina. Other testing may include pentacam, pachymetery,and specular microscope. 3. Coordinate the scheduling of varioussurgical procedures and preparation of pre-op paperwork. Performequipment maintenance and minor repairs. May also include outreachtravel. 4. Interact with patients, pharmacies, and optical dispensariesin the release and communication of prescriptions and give appropriateadvice regarding eye symptoms and problems. 5. Certain otherresponsibilities may include managing and ordering supplies andinventories in department, contact lens order processing, andinstruction in insertion, removal, and handling of contact lenses. 6.May assist in minor surgical procedures including cleaning andsterilization of surgical equipment and instruments as well as assistingthe surgeon in the procedure.
