About Operations Director (Mainframe, Batch & Platforms)

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Operations Director to oversee our critical mainframe, batch, and additional platform operations. This role demands expertise in leading a large, outsourced team while guiding a skilled internal team focused on ensuring seamless operations, platform optimization, and robust security. You will be a visionary leader with a deep understanding of mainframe technology, batch processing, and diverse platform support, driving continuous improvement and innovation across our infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Mainframe Batch Operations Leadership:

Lead and manage the outsourced mainframe and batch operations team, guaranteeing adherence to service level agreements, budgets, and security standards.

Foster a collaborative internal team providing oversight, guidance, and issue resolution for all mainframe and batch activities.

Proactively monitor system performance, identify and address potential issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance and uptime.

Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for process improvement and modernization.

Platform Support Optimization:

Own and manage additional platform support responsibilities for multiple subsidiaries

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of platform operations with overall business goals.

Implement strategic initiatives to enhance platform efficiency, reliability, and security.

Audit Compliance:

Oversee and coordinate comprehensive audit activities across all platforms, ensuring adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Work closely with internal and external auditors to address findings and implement corrective actions.

Develop and maintain robust audit trails and documentation for all platforms.

Team Leadership Development:

Build and cultivate a high-performing internal team with expertise in mainframe, batch, and platform operations.

Foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment that promotes continuous learning and development.

Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, helping them achieve their full potential.

Strategic Planning Innovation:

Participate in long-term planning for mainframe, batch, and platform operations, including budget forecasting, capacity planning, and technology roadmap development.

Stay abreast of industry trends and identify potential threats and opportunities impacting these critical functions.

Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on data-driven insights and analysis.

Use your skills to make an impact

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience.

10+ years of experience in mainframe and batch operations management.

Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams within an outsourced environment.

In-depth understanding of mainframe architecture, JCL, batch processing, and related technologies.

Solid knowledge of managing platform support areas.

Experience in leading and coordinating platform audits, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into operational solutions.

Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Bonus:

Master's degree preferred

Work-At-Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$168,800 - $232,300 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
