What You Will Achieve
Pfizer's BioMedicine Design (BMD) Group in Cambridge, MA is responsible for discovering and developing biotherapeutic drug candidates. The group is responsible for identification and engineering of Biotherapeutic proteins, protein production, and protein analytics.
BMD is seeking a Operations Associateto support the BMD Strategy and Operations Team in maintaining state of the art laboratories in Kendall Square.
The BMD Operations Associate will work directly with Laboratory Scientists, Lab Instrument Services, Global Operations and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Leads to leverage their significant laboratory experience, superior organizational skills, and positive outgoing personal presence to ensure a safe, functional, well-organized, and vibrant workspace.
How You Will Achieve
As active member of Environmental Health and Safety inspection team; models compliant and safe laboratory behaviors and leads resolution of any identified issues.
Interfaces with BMD Portfolio and Operations Lead, BMD Scientists, Facilities, and Global Operations to independently respond to day-to-day laboratory issues including equipment repairs, sourcing lab supplies and guidance on compliance.
Oversees proper sorting and labeling of biohazardous and chemical waste
Organizes onsite freezer storage, manages freezer alarms, and alarm response
Leads annual laboratory cleanouts, chemical inventory, and pipette calibration drives
Performs quarterly internal EHS laboratory safety inspections and work with scientists to close out findings
Assists with colleague lab onboarding and offboarding
Interfaces with onsite vendors to manage laboratory supplies
Maintains Tissue Culture Facilities: stocking of consumables, water bath and incubator maintenance
Assist BMD Portfolio and Operations Lead with equipment capitalization process
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant scientific field including biology, cell biology, biomedical engineering, pharmacology.
2+ years' experience working in a laboratory environment; preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry
Able to organize own work to meet project task deadlines and lead small teams; possesses basic team effectiveness skills & peer-influencing skills required to work in a matrix environment. Able to work effectively as both a team member and as an independent contributor.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, related supplies, computer hardware and software, and their applications
Proficiency in the use of MS Office, Bluebeam, and Enablon Software; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledgeable on laboratory sustainability initiatives
Enjoys fast-paced environment, highly organized and personable, proactive problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $49,700.00 to $80,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
