Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan, three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Operations and Chemistry Lead reports to the Battery Lab Project Leader and supports test planning activities across all areas of the lab enterprise. This includes creation of reports and tools, tracking test status, creating, and distributing communications and metrics, maintaining equipment inventory, and general coordination of teams for test planning activities.
This job is based in General Motors' Warren, Michigan Global Battery Systems Lab (GBSL-W). The facility has testing capabilities including traditional environmental testing, vibration, safety and abuse as well as exploratory development testing. The lab and results it produces are used by GM's growing team working on advanced batteries and electrified vehicles, in support of the vision of a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion.
The Operations and Chemistry Lead role is a good fit for a qualified individual with good written and oral communication skills, multitasking ability, and data handling and processing experience.
What You'll Do
Engage with stakeholders within the lab community to ensure all lab test requests get planned and tracked through completion, on-time and with quality. Stakeholders generally include technicians, engineers, and leadership personnel. The lab community is comprised of the Lab Operations, Battery Development Engineering, and the Battery Validation Engineering organizations. Host weekly meetings amongst stakeholders. Create and distribute minutes and action items. Create and distribute reports to help drive lab efficiency improvement initiatives Distribute equipment calibration schedules and responsible tasks to stakeholders Help maintain equipment inventory and MAQ limits for the lab through tracking and auditing what is in the lab an authorizing incoming chemistry to maintain levels. Track lab test request status and follow up with stakeholder to ensure proper closure Support stakeholders with resource needs Support activities aimed at reducing test faults that occur during test execution. Help organize resources to support root cause efforts

Your Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical degree Minimum 2 years of experience in project management or engineering High level of competence with typical Microsoft Office Applications - Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, Outlook will be used daily. Working knowledge of Microsoft Project Working knowledge of data visualization methods Comfort around technician and engineering personnel Ability to manage several tasks at one time

Masters degree in Engineering or other technical degree Project Management skills Experience using data visualize applications, e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Grafana Experience automating Microsoft Excel documents with VBA macros Ability to create data analysis tools High level of interest in the vehicle electrification space
