  About the unit

  7 South is a 32 bed, Neuro Surgery focused Medical Surgical floor. We serve patient population that includes and are not limited to, post-operative surgical patients related to Spine and Ortho Spine, C- Spine, Lumbar and Thoracic Spine surgeries, as well as patients staying for extended recovery after general out-patient surgical procedures. The Medical patient population includes, acute mental Status changes, Seizures, GI bleed, Pneumonia, Stroke, Polydrug Abuse, ETOH Abuse on CIWA pathways, Psychiatric patients, Palliative Care, hospice, Multiple Sclerosis, Isolation patients and patients with other infections and complex family issues. The unit has 8 telemetry beds to monitor patients with suspected cardiac involvement.

  Scope of work

  Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice. Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care. Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care. Facilitates the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

  AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

  Previous hospital or nursing home experience Preferred

  Current CNA certification Preferred
