Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative/business-oriented field or equivalent practical experience
5 years of experience within one or more of the following fields: News Publishing, Strategy Consulting, Business Development, Media or Digital strategy, or Corporate Strategy Leadership
Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with sales, partnerships, and/or business development in general, or managing with the traditional media industry (e.g., News, Publishing, Broadcasting)
Experience influencing executive stakeholders in a matrixed organization
Ability to manage ambiguity, solve complex problems, and scale effectively across a large and highly distributed organization
Excellent communication and presentation skills
The APAC News Partnerships team works to transform Google’s relationships with the news industry in the Asia Pacific region. Our team provides meaningful solutions, from helping news organizations grow and transform their business and find new audiences, to helping our long-term partners anticipate and navigate change in a way that delivers economic and reputational value. We collaborate across Google, ensuring a coordinated approach when engaging with our complex and strategic partners to grow our business and theirs, build trust, and deepen relationships.
Plan and execute the News Partnerships strategy for Japan with the objective of addressing Google’s opportunities and challenges with the news industry in Japan from a business, reputational, and compliance perspective.
Identify and prioritize partners. Serve as an expert on each partner’s organization, business model, and strategic priorities. Serve as a liaison with these partners regarding new product and feature launches and distribution opportunities.
Maintain effective relationships with publishers and identify new opportunities to grow their audience and business through Google platforms and solutions.
Manage programs/partnerships including negotiations, communications, program development, contracting, analytical reporting and tracking, and organizational and operational support.
Collaborate across different Google teams to drive a partner- and industry-centric approach that elevates relationships for strategic news partners in Japan. Represent Google externally at relevant industry events.
