SAIC is seeking a Solution Architect to join our team to support the Department of Air Force’s (DAF) Advanced Battle Management System’s (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure (DI), Deployable Digital Infrastructure Product Team. ABMS is the Air Force’s latest effort to create a next-generation command and control (C2) system and is a top modernization priority for the DAF. ABMS will be the backbone of a network-centric approach to battle management in partnership with all the services across the Department of Defense. The broader effort known as the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) is focused on rapid integration of capabilities and modernizing the decision-making processes for combat operations.
To accomplish the DAF’s mission, the government in partnership with the ABMS Consortium a Deployable Digital Infrastructure (DDI). The Product Line Team is comprised of industry leaders in systems engineering, digital engineering, model-based systems engineering, cyber security, integration test and operations and sustainment working together in a collaborative environment to delivery critical capabilities to our warfighters.
The Solution Architect will:
Drive innovative solutions to deliver results to the warfighters that leverage the latest in DevSecOps resources and scalable cloud and bare metal microservices to support advanced communications, tactical cloud, and secure processing.
Facilitate technical information exchange on Platform as a Service (PaaS) functions in support of consortium objectives to provide on-demand access to computing resources.
Decompose and allocate requirements to system functions to design, develop and deploy a capability of monitoring and maintaining an application ecosystem running on PaaS.
Develop and maintain digital system architecture, models, and architecture standards for the DDI Product.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelors degree and 14 years of engineering/technical experience in Enterprise IT infrastructure.
5+ years experience as a systems architect.
Systems of Systems Integration experience (from a design/architecture perspective).
Experience with MBSE modelling.
Excellent verbal and presentation communication skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience designing detailed full-stack platform solutions including trade studies, cost, schedule, and technical aspects.
Familiarity with architecture patterns technologies appropriate for deployable open systems infrastructures, including at least 5 of the following:
MOSA approaches
CI/CD
Commercial cloud (specifically AWS and Azure), hybrid cloud, edge cloud architectures
LINUX-based systems
Microservices/Containerization/Kubernetes service mesh/routing
Voice Data Networks
Encryption
Cross-Domain solutions
Modern authorization / ICAM / Zero-Trust architectures
Data management/synchronization
Familiarity with operational US military systems deployed into the tactical echelon, including specific familiarity with:
Tactical and strategic/back-haul voice and data communications, including Tactical Data Links
Sensor integration
Military Commercial cloud integration
Hands-on experience implementing and supporting technologies above.
Familiarity with Enterprise Application development and deployment processes.
Experience with SAFe agile processes.
People leadership experience; including mentoring, coaching, and building high performing Engineering teams.
Prior military or hands-on experience with tactical military IT systems in production use (e.g., exercises).
Familiarity with USAF operational and tactical CONOPS.
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
