NY1485207 NDT Level III.Full time for Special Metals in New Hartford, NY.Pay: $88,800-$110,900/year SummaryThis position has the responsibility for assuring that Special Metals Corporation conforms to the requirements of all customer, end user and regulatory requirements in the areas of visual inspection and nondestructive testing. The NDT Engineer (UT Level III) must facilitate and maintain a system to ensure that all operators/inspectors are properly trained, qualified, or certified to customer, end user or regulatory standards where applicable. The NDT Engineer also provides the expertise for writing and developing inspection procedures in conformance with requirements, developing new inspection techniques, assuring equipment is properly maintained and in calibration. The NDT Engineer also serves as the liaison for customer and third party audits concerning inspection and NDT requirements and records.

Organizational skills and attention to detail are critical. Computer literacy, reliable attendance and good communication skills are essential. The ability to communicate and serve both internal and external customers in a professional manager is required.
Responsibilities:
As NDT Level III:1. Train, examine, qualify and certify all inspectors for ultrasonic and dye penetrant inspection toLevel II requirements of SNT-TC-1A and NAS410.
Write and maintain inspection procedures.Develop and establish new inspection techniques as required.Conduct and maintain periodic checks of all inspectors as required.Review new orders for compliance to specifications.Maintain and ensure ultrasonic reference standards conform to requirements.Evaluate new equipment as needed to maintain SMC leadership status in the industry.2. Review all ultrasonic inspection records for conformance to internal customer requirements.3. Review, approve, and validate inspection records electronically.4. Perform internal audits of various department and systems as directed. Communicate results to management and follow-up for corrective actions as necessary.5. Perform supplier audits as directed. Communicate results to management and follow-up for corrective actions as necessary.6. a. Interface with customers during second party audits and communicate results to management. b. Answer customer corrective action requests as needed. c. Act as SMC liaison for third party audits.7. Administer and follow-up on internal corrective action requests.8.Review and comment on customer specifications and communicate results of the review to various departments.9. Perform duties required to certify conformance of product to customer's requirements. This includes all aspects of the certification function.10. Complete and submit any regulatory NDT reports (ie; FAA sonic rejections).11. Duties as assigned by the Quality Engineering Manager.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
AS in Engineering, Applied Science, Aeronautics, or similar discipline with at least ten years NDT experience, including three to five years experience within the aerospace industry.orBS in Engineering, Applied Science, Aeronautics, or similar discipline with at least 8 years NDT experience, including three to five years of experience in the aerospace industry. Previous ASNT and/or NAS410 Level III Certification in UT is required.
Must be certifiable in to NAS410 standards within 1 year of employment.
