Responsibilities
The Opportunity
PCG’s Education Consulting service line seeksa Grades K– 12 STEM Director to helpschool districts/state departments of education across the nation improve student outcomes and instructionalpracticesin Mathematics, Science, and other content areas. TheSTEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)Directorwill actively lead andparticipateinthe design, development, and delivery of instructional materials to supportstudentachievementin STEM contentand will support teachers and district/state department of education leaders to implement related instructional practices. Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below. This is a full-time, remote role, with occasional in-person meetings. Some travel may berequired.
About PCG’ s Education Consulting Service Line
PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line work with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews.
Project engagements have included the development of theEngageNYgrades 6–12 English Language Arts curriculum for the New York State Education Department and the delivery of implementation services across several states; the design and delivery of a system of a K–3 professional learning program for the Connecticut State Department of Education; and the creation of training and resources to support standards implementation for the Florida Department of Education. We recently collaborated with Chicago Public Schools (IL) to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK–12 English Language Arts and mathematics andhave beenprovidingasynchronous and synchronous professional learning to teachers and administrators to support implementation.We also recently developeda K–5 ELA curriculum in partnership with Pinellas County Schools (FL) to support their transition to the new Florida B.E.S.T standards.Additionally, werecentlyhavepartneredwiththeNew York City Department of Education to develop thirty-nine K-12 mini-units for thedistrict’sHidden Voices Initiative.
The Role
Partner with clients, including school districts, state departments of education, and other organizations to understand their goals andprovidesolutions to supportstudentsand instructional staffin Science and Mathematics instruction.
Lead thedevelopmentofgradesK–12Mathematicsand/or Sciencecurricula, includingprogram-level, course-level, unit-level, and lesson-level material.
Contribute tothecollection and analysis of stakeholder feedback to informthe development ofcurriculum mapsand product development.
Contribute to the development and refinement ofinstructional and technical specificationsand oversee adherence to the specificationsthroughout theproduct.
Provideleadership for the writing teams in the implementation of instructional and technical specifications, including rubrics. This may includecoordinating workflow andprovidingreview and actionable feedback, both written and verbal, to teams about content.
Ensure on-time delivery of deliverables by writing team.
Work closely withproject leadershipand vendor partner(s) asappropriateinarapid development process.
Collaborate with project team to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of theMathematicsand/or Sciencecurricula(K–12).
Collaborate with project management team to ensure that established project management processes and structures are appropriately implemented.
Identifyopportunities to improve processes, operations, and client services.
Interface regularly with clientteams.
Inform and advise on the development ofother content areacurriculaasappropriate.
Design, create, guide the development of, and deliver high quality online, face-to-face, and blended professional development aligned to client goals and expectations.
Train andcoacha variety of audiences, including administrators, teachers, direct service providers, and paraprofessionals, in the areas of national and state-specific standards for Math and Science, instructional best practices, and curriculum design.
Support business development activities, in close partnership with Education Consulting business line leads, through participation in proposals, demonstrations, and strategic client conversations.
Participate in the development and dissemination ofwhite papers, reports, guidance documents, blogs, training materials, and other written materials for clients, internal project teams, and the firm.
Availability duringregularwork week, with some night or weekend work as needed.
Qualifications
Required / Desired Experience:
Mastersdegree or higher.
STEM leadership experience at thelocal education agency (LEA)and/orstate education agency (SEA)levels.
Experience teaching diverse learners, including EnglishLanguage Learners and students with disabilities.
Previousteam leadershipexperience of 3 or more years.
Experience developing curricular resourcesfor use by other teachers.
Experiencewithstandards-based curriculum and instructionanda varietyofassessments.
Experience developing andprovidingprofessional development, training, or coaching.
Familiarity with Google Drive.
Familiarity withavariety ofexistingMathematicsand Sciencecurricula(Preferred).
Experience with digital learning instructional design (Preferred).

Compensation
Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $100,000 - $135,000. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role.
