Role:
The National Credit Associate will proactively manage a credit & collections portfolio of National Accounts from across Canada by ensuring timely and complete collections while positively impacting Sysco’s cash flow through direct and indirect customer collections efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for reconciling, investigating and resolving all outstanding invoices. This role has daily interaction with Sysco Canada Sales and Regional Teams, as well as with external customers.
Role Responsibilities:
Conducting collection calls and reconciling disputes to ensure company goals for collection targets are
achieved
Ensuring the accounts are in excellent status with issues being dealt with proactively
Daily and weekly monitoring of customer accounts, ensuring current status is consistently maintained
to achieve departmental and organizational objectives
Following up on customer requests for invoices, credits by various communication methods
Managing the customer delinquent process through collaboration and communication with external
and internal customers – Account Executives and Managers
Working within the credit policies to minimize AR and credit risk
Market, train, counsel, advise and communicate credit department policy and procedures to company
personnel
Maintain electronic collection files with appropriate documented system notes
Assist in the overall achievement of departmental goals
Preparing monthly management reports within Sysco
Use of technology to track customer information, including Word, Excel, BPC, Cognos tools
Participate in major department projects and take an active role in cross-functional teams to assist in
driving quality improvements, processes and initiatives
Assisting in the overall achievements of departmental goals
Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of
reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is
willing to speak out when hazards are present.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements (About you):
A minimum of 2-4 years related credit work experience, within the Distribution industry preferred
Completion of High School
College level diploma in Accounting or equivalent work experience preferred
CCP designation an asset, but not required
Ability to secure prompt payment from customers while employing business sensitivity, business acumen and good judgment
Effective business writing, professional communication, negotiation and organizational skills
Ability to deal with difficult situations and/or people
Proven experience with computerized accounting systems and scanning software
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
A dual capacity to function both as part of a team and independently
Self motivated and ability to work independently while also being an integral part of a team
Experience in a fast-paced and large company environment is an asset
