Job Description About the Role
The National Account Director (NAD), Cigna Group role is responsible for developing and evolving the strategic operating plan for the entire Cigna Group enterprise across all business segments. The candidate is accountable for securing profitable access for all BIIB products and serves as the single face of Biogen. They are responsible for managing Ascent, ESI, Cigna, Accredo, Evernorth, Forsyth Health, and all other entities of The Cigna Group. They need to have a deep understanding of their business model and growth strategies, establish broad, key executive relationships, and look for innovative ways to drive Biogen’s business.
The NAD needs to direct large, stakeholder internal teams, inclusive of business leaders, to create strategies to optimize product revenue, ensure profitable access, maximize outcomes, execute service agreements, develop customer initiatives. The candidate is responsible for increased interactions with HQ leaders cross functionally, providing key customer insights, and reporting on customer, product, and innovation progress on an ongoing basis.
What You will Do
• Ensure profitable access across all business units (BU), monitor and report on product profitability and performance
• Direct the customer’s access strategies for the BU portfolio; negotiate product contracts, service agreements, and monitor contract compliance
• Broaden and deepen relationships across the Cigna Group enterprise managing executive- to- executive exchanges and unique partnership opportunities
• Facilitates communication with field personnel and leadership around account activities
• Direct the analysis and measurement of key business drivers and objectives including relationship effectiveness, value proposition, and other operational and financial indicators for their customer(s)
• Responsible for development and oversight of customer pull-through and push-through initiatives
• Oversee the monitoring of executed contracts, including account rebate submissions to ensure contractual obligations and performance expectations are being met
• Responsible for the development of the account plan and the overall account strategy to include all stakeholders while working collaboratively to match customer’s needs and expectations with internal Biogen capabilities (e.g., Medical, Finance, Marketing, R&D, Outcomes Research).
• Participate in Business reviews across therapeutic areas as an SME on assigned accounts and a spokesperson for Market Access and Reimbursement.
• Drive and monitor agreed upon Specialty Pharmacy performance metrics within assigned accounts
Who You Are
You are a National Account Director that has previous experience calling on the national payer landscape with specialty and rare disease experience managing complex diseases. You have a proven ability to manage a portfolio of products across different therapeutic areas.
Qualifications • 10+ years pharmaceutical/biotech, Market Access experience
• Exceptional business and clinical acumen
• Strong presentation skills: ability to clearly convey his/her ideas to key internal organizational stakeholders as well as specific decision makers in selected accounts
• Ability to lead within the matrix knows how to get things accomplished both through formal channels and the informal network
• Strategic thinker: Understands the origin and reasoning behind key policies, practices, and procedures
• Ability to interact with senior leaders and work across functional groups to build consensus and action
• Demonstrated success in account management
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record according to Biogen policy to be considered
• Travel 30%
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Level or above degree preferred.
• Advanced training in relevant market access discipline and negotiation

The base compensation range for this role is $169,800 – $282,900. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
