Morgan Stanley Bank International (China) Ltd. (MSBIC) is a locally incorporated foreign bank wholly owned by Morgan Stanley in Zhuhai, China. It has a branch in Beijing and is primarily engaged in bond and FX trading, lending, loan syndication, and corporate deposit taking. MSBIC focuses on providing unique domestic and cross-border solutions to large corporations and institutions in China. In preparation for the Bank’s new phase of development as it seeks to take advantage of the upcoming market and product liberalization and the Bank’s planned expansion into derivatives businesses.
Morgan Stanley is seeking a data governance specialist to join the Data Governance Office of its banking subsidiary in China, Morgan Stanley Bank International (China) Limited. Based in Beijing or Zhuhai, this person will be responsible for coordinating the execution of data-driven initiatives cross four data risk pillars of Data Quality, Information Security, Information Management, Privacy; and supporting implementation of data policies and standards across the bank.
This role functionally reports to Institutional Securities Data Group (IDG).
Support in defining local data initiatives in alignment with firm and local regulatory requirements;
Coordinate implementation of both firm and local data initiatives;
Coordinate with IDG in the region and FDO in implementing firmwide requirements, standards and practices at the bank;
Maintain and update MSBIC data policies, procedures and standards aligning with firm and local regulatory requirements;
Develop, maintain and report data governance metrics on governance adoption, business impact and data quality to governance meetings and senior management;
Maintain data issues register/workflow, monitor data issue remediation;
Coordinate MSBIC departments in maintaining appropriate inventories, including data standards, critical data, critical reports, etc.;
Prepare data governance updates for related governance forums;
Prepare responses to internal and external inquires on data governance;
Coordinate data governance related assessments;
Promote data culture and conduct data governance trainings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL-SETS
Experience in financial services, familiar with China financial markets regulations
Experience in project management with strong ability to scope, plan and execute projects
Technical foundations: Data: architecture, quality, protection; Risk Management: RCSA, Governance, Policy etc.
Strong inter-personal skills, willing and capable of building relationship across business functions and tech
Strong analytical skills and control mindset
Bilingual written and spoken communications skills in English and Mandarin Chinese
