The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate DiL (Driver in the Loop) Controls Engineer to join our dynamic motorsports team. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge control systems for our DiL simulators. Your expertise will be essential in supporting DiLs in use for multiple racing series, gaining a competitive edge across all GM motorsports endeavors.
What You'll Do
Control System Development: Design and develop control algorithms, strategies, and models for various DiL systems Data Analysis: Analyze telemetry and sensor data collected from test runs and races to assess vehicle performance, identify areas for improvement, and fine-tune control systems accordingly System Integration: Collaborate with other engineering teams, including electronics, powertrain, chassis, and aerodynamics, to integrate control systems seamlessly to ensure overall system compatibility Safety and Reliability: Implement safety features and fail-safe mechanisms to protect drivers and equipment Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with relevant motorsports regulations and ensure that control systems comply with the specified rules and regulations for different race categories. Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation, including control system specifications, testing procedures, and performance reports, to facilitate knowledge sharing and support future developments Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in control systems, electronics, and motorsports technology, and apply innovative solutions to gain a competitive edge

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field 5+ years of post-graduation experience in motorsports or automotive industry Proven experience as a Controls Systems Engineer in the motorsports or automotive industry Strong proficiency in control theory, modeling, and system identification techniques Proficiency in using simulation software such as MATLAB/Simulink, Dymola, or similar tools Knowledge of motorsports data acquisition systems and data analysis tools Solid programming skills in languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
