Position Summary
Under the immediate direction of the Leadperson, the Motor GraderOperator is responsible for safe and efficient operation of motor graderto establish and maintain travel ways throughout the quarry.
Responsibilities
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safetypolicies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipmentfor the taskCapable of maintaining smooth and properly graded roadways to allowfor drainageDemonstrate an understanding of grades and slopesAvoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines,other equipment, other workers, and objectsPerform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment; reportdefects and repairs to maintenance departmentMust be able to or willing to learn to operate all other mobileequipment, including: haul truck, water truck, loader and craneAssist in plant repairs and clean-upResponsible for good housekeeping of equipmentAdhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulationsOther duties as assignedMinimum Education and Experience
3-5 years of experience operating motor graderHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to read equipment operating manualMust be able to complete pre-shift inspection reportMust be able to communicate in English on radio or CBPossess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reportsMust be able to wear all required safety equipmentMust be able to perform duties in a safe mannerMust be able to read and interpret gaugesMust be able to work hours associated with the aggregates industry,including overtime and weekends and holidaysProven ability to work in a TEAM environmentAbility to follow verbal and written instructionPhysical Requirements
Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operatehand/foot controlsPossess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distancesup to 150 feetMust be able to limb on and off equipment to operate and serviceMust be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around mobile equipmentCapable of lifting up to 50 lbMust be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+hours per dayMust work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extremeambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisyconditionsMust be able to work at various heightsWorking Conditions
Larger equipment is typically air conditioned. There will be times whenoutside assignments that may require periods of work in all weatherconditions-heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand,gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
