The Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) is currently seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) for a full-time research faculty position. As a team member, you will develop a next generation communications architecture that addresses legacy replacement and next generation radio integration, leveraging software defined radios and modular open system approaches. This project supports a cross-functional integrated product team (IPT) which performs prototyping, system demonstrations, and proof of concepts for systems to help the Joint Forces.
The position requires being within the local commuting distance of either Huntsville, AL or Smyrna, GA.

responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Conduct top-down functional analysis and translate requirements into detailed performance design criteria.
Design and build templates to assist Subject Matter Experts in providing critical system information.
Conduct product or system design synthesis translating requirements into functional, logical, and physical architectures captured in a SysML model for systems of low complexity.
Define/refine internal and external interfaces.
Develop technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes in a SysML model.
Additional Responsibilities
Help lead the Joint Forces with defining and implementing an open architecture and standard solutions for the joint service tactical waveform community.
Design architecture and document system high-level and low-level requirements for software defined radios and digital radioheads.
Develop verification methods and processes for the engineering of RF systems.
Evaluate emerging technologies and standards for use in SDR systems.
Implement MBSE best practices for representing communications architecture supporting next generation and modern communications radios.
