  deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Mid-level Electrical Engineer in Huntsville, AL.

  Position Description:

  The successful candidate will perform cradle-to-grave launch vehicle-centric hardware engineering. This entails being a part of the hardware development for multiple technical baselines and the associated operations planning, design engineering, ground support development, analysis, testing, integration, and launch/retrofit operations planning.

  Responsibilities Include:

  Perform analysis, electrical design engineering, and/or test of complex designsPerform comprehensive review of internal, external and range requirements to support launch vehicle system level design and vehicle subsystem designPerform detailed analyses to support/verify designs and conduct briefings to management and customersLead development, coordination, and execution of test programs required to evaluate the designOversee component supplier design, analysis, manufacture, and testLead troubleshooting efforts and comprehensive failure investigationsMentor other engineers from a technical standpoint as well as perform senior peer reviewCollaborate early and often with other engineering disciplines and operations/manufacturing groupsPrepares and presents electrical engineering materials for Requirements and Design ReviewsStudies basic design concepts and criteria for more complex problemsApplies electrical engineering principles to adapt or improve upon heritage features from previous successful designs of a similar naturePerform qualification testing, characterization testing, troubleshooting, and test data review of completed designsPerform data analysis to identify trends that may indicate out of tolerance or degraded part performance Perform testing to characterize off-nominal behavior of componentsProvides inputs into bill of materials (BOMs) and evaluates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) parts for complianceActively and effectively participates and contributes in a positive manner while supporting team decisionsEducation Requirements:

  Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)

  Experience Requirements:

  9+ years with Bachelor's degree; 7+ years with Master's degreePrior experience with the design, test, and/or integration and deployment of electrical components, electrical ground support equipment (EGSE), or subsystemDemonstrated broad understanding and application of company electrical engineering technical standards. Hands on electrical component design solution implementationDemonstrated broad technical expertise and working expert knowledge of other related disciplines. Experience leading and vetting impact assessments/DARsMust be able to meet GWS Firewall requirementsAbility to travel at least 10%Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment full timeSpecial Skills Desired:

  S. in Electrical engineering preferredRelease of engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test proceduresBurndown of nonconformances and/or root cause failure analysis of electronic systemsProblem solving not only for technical issues, but also for schedule, cost, resource and other project challengesMentoring and cross-training team members across a diverse set of technologies and electrical system architectures used to meet customer requirements Experience using analytical software tools, such as MATLAB or Python, to analyze and reduce data to identify key characteristics and trendsLabVIEW programming and National Instruments (NI) hardware and software productsLabVIEW FPGA development experienceDOORS and/or CAMEO exposureExperience with classified test systems or systems subject to cyber security policies and risk management framework (RM )Experience with telemetry systemsExperience with mission critical and safety critical systems, components, connectors, cables, etc.Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process)Familiarity with MIL-STD-1901A, MIL-STD-882, EWR-127, RCC 319, RCC 324, DoDEA 8510.01, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab, ECSS-ST-50-11CFamiliarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardwareApplicant selected must have an active Secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
